Lush is more than just a fresh, handmade cosmetics company.  It is a company that wants to make skin, hair and bathing products in a way that benefits the world, not depletes it. We have strong opinions on nature, the environment, human rights & animal rights - and we try to build these into all our business practices.

Our search for best practice means we are constantly made aware of where the problems lay, and also brings us into close contact with others, such as charities, NGOs, activists and community groups who are working to make the world a better, safer, kinder place.

Over the years, Lush has made it a mission to help these groups, who share the same concerns as us, by helping fund their work and also, importantly, giving them a platform in our shop windows and websites to reach through to the public.

We have become known as a campaigning & giving company, for both our internal business practices and our willingness to highlight world issues in our windows. Staff and customers appreciate the integrity of Lush’s values, hold us to account and are an active part of upholding our standards. For them our campaigns are a source of inspiration and pride.

As part of our small, worldwide Campaigns Team, you will help further the Lush values, shape our public facing campaigns and engage with external groups who are working to improve the world. You bring a strong drive and desire to shift public awareness, experience of active campaigning and the ability to meaningfully engage with everyone from external grassroots activists to internal staff and company leadership.

We are looking for someone who is active in Human Rights, Animal Rights or Environmental issues and understands the landscape of campaigning and activism in Canada and is connected to it. We are excited to have someone new on our team who can represent young activists, those driving change through diversity and inclusion and bring awareness of voices that are less heard.

Working with the US - Ethical Campaign Coordinator and the US Giving Coordinator - to share ideas and support each other in various projects. You will undertake the following

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Through your knowledge and participation in the Canadian campaigning landscape, you would highlight and suggest partnerships with progressive grassroots organisations, NGOs, and movements, including those that Lush may not have previously collaborated with.

  • Communicate complex ethical or legislative topics into clear, inspiring educational materials, training guides, and window concepts in ways that help our retail staff bring these ideas to life on the shop floor.
  • Write compelling campaign & giving copy for internal and external communication, web articles, press mailers, and our active digital platforms (including LinkedIn, YouTube, Bluesky, etc.).
  • Help develop creative concepts for campaign store windows, in store activations, and public stunts, and a willingness to take part in person where required.
  • Collaborate with the PR team to draft press releases and secure meaningful earned media coverage, with an emphasis on the ethical issue and partner organisation, not on the Brand.
  • Work to maximise impact whilst resourcefully staying within our tight campaigns budget.
  • Provide post campaign & giving feedback to staff, where possible to include impact reporting, outcomes, petition numbers collected and any other interesting information or developments and feedback from the partner organisations.
  • Attend key business meetings to provide a sound moral compass, intersectional insight, and strategic guidance on core ethical positions, such as fighting animal testing, environmental initiatives and human rights impacts.
  • Actively collaborate across the internal business, participate in relevant meetings and circle discussions to help identify and refine proposals and promote open communication and healthy debate on key campaign & giving directions to help early development of campaign & giving ideas.

  • Ensure all localised Canadian shop activations, external partnerships, and campaign strategies strictly adhere to the Charity Pot Guidelines.
  • Maintain a high standard of administration Partner with business stakeholders including Finance to ensure funds are paid on time.
  • Keep a close pulse on Canadian current affairs to alert and advise management on emerging socio-political issues, crises, or grassroots causes that align with or challenge Lush's stated ethical positions.

KNOWLEDGE, CAPABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  • A proven portfolio of existing relationships and high personal credibility within the Canadian charity, NGO, or grassroots activist sectors (with a strong preference for experience working alongside environmental, animal protection, and human rights movements).
  • 3+ years of experience of managing and rolling out successful ethical or grassroots campaigns, ideally within an NGO, community, organising, charity, or progressive brand environment.
  • A deep, intersectional understanding of current affairs across Canada, combined with the cultural sensitivity required to communicate complex social topics responsibly and authentically.
  • Highly organised and methodical. Experienced in tracking complex copy sign-offs, administrative records, and multi-layered retail timelines under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience delivering presentations, training retail teams, or standing in front of a camera for press interviews.
  • Proven knowledge, understanding, and commitment to global justice, social change, and specifically reconciliation and decolonisation within the Canadian context.
  • Proven experience working authentically and respectfully across multicultural, diverse, and marginalised communities.
  • But more than anything, our main requirement is for someone who would bring passion and integrity to the role, who could be respected and trusted by external organisations and be motivating and inspirational to our own internal staff.
