Purpose of the Role:

We are looking for an Equity Analyst to assist in managing the Nicola Canadian Equity Income Fund. Are you an engaged self-starter who remains calm under pressure? Do you have excellent analytical skills and the ability to clearly present and share ideas to a number of people in a continually changing environment? In this role you will be generating investment ideas, performing in-depth due diligence on companies across multiple industries while gathering and analyzing information across different sources, building models and evaluating businesses under different scenarios.  

 This is a hybrid role located in either our Toronto or Vancouver office. 

Core Responsibilities:
  • Generating investment ideas within a collaborative team.  
  • Performing in-depth due diligence on companies across multiple industries as a generalist investor.  
  • Gathering and analyzing information across different sources.  
  • Engaging with senior management teams and industry participants.  
  • Building company models and evaluating businesses under different scenarios.  
  • Building presentations and presenting our findings to our Advisory Services Team, Investment Committee, and clients.  
  • Working with other departments within the asset management group to enhance knowledge sharing and investment returns.  
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in analyzing Canadian, U.S. and/or International Equities.  
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in any discipline.  
  • Strong interest in and demonstrated understanding of investment analysis.   
  • Financial industry designation completed (CFA, CA, CPA, etc.) or minimum completion of Level 2 of the CFA Program.  
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and valuation analysis using Excel.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).  
  • Strong analytical ability and high attention to detail.  
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.  
  • Experience with Bloomberg is an asset.  
Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a competitive base salary hiring range of $120,000 - $150,000. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and overall fit. 

 Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in our performance-based ShortTerm Incentive (STI) and LongTerm Incentive (LTI) programs. LTI is awarded in the form of equity, providing a direct ownership opportunity in the firm. This total compensation program aligns pay with performance through competitive incentives with meaningful longterm value creation.
