Reporting to the Lead Enterprise Metadata Engineer – the Enterprise Data Quality Analyst will be instrumental in advancing our Data Governance framework, expanding our data catalog, and promoting a data-centric culture across the organization. This role will work directly with business data stewards, engineering, and architecture teams to understand data quality issues and to proactively develop and deliver analysis that address the data sourcing and quality needs while supporting a data Governance framework.


The successful candidate will enable the following objectives within the Data Management Roadmap:

• Deliver superior solutions to data quality issues

• Identify and highlight potential risks associated with poor data quality

• Validate data sources

• Verify and document business rules

• Maintain a focus on continuous improvement of data quality, integrity and consistency while invoking Data Governance practices

• Define and ensure appropriate data access and use


Job Responsibilities

• Perform analysis on data quality issues to document current state, understand impacts and root cause; identify and recommend remediation actions

• Prepare finding and recommendations and report back to the project or application stakeholders

• Manage data quality issues from discovery to closure

• Present findings and recommendations to Data Stewardship and IT Leadership as required

• Lead initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement to support Data Stewardship and Data Management objectives

• Ensure on-going effective communication with the Data Stewards and supporting areas

• Develop and update internal processes and procedures

• Participate in initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement to support Data Stewardship objectives

• Book Data Stewardship meetings, publish and distribute agenda and minutes

• Collaboratively work with Data Stewardship team and other members within the organization on the establishment and continuous enhancement of the Business Information Glossary (BIG) and Data Issue Database

• Provide technical support to other members of the broader Trader team on data related issues

• Maintain upgrades to Information Analyzer profiling tool as well maintain data profiling environment(s) where data profiling is to occur, taking into account the safe guarding of sensitive data where necessary

• Assist in the drafting of definitions (business terms and meta data) destined for the glossary

• Review glossary content authored by others and highlight issues or changes required

• Compile training materials and deliver training as required on the use of this tool

• Generally facilitate any process aimed at the rollout and on-going growth of the tool

• Ensure the on-going integrity of the metadata within the tool

• Perform data discovery and data analysis using a variety of tools and techniques to identify data quality issues and recommend remediation actions

• Perform analysis on data to validate accuracy of source to target

• Assist in development and ongoing sustainment of a Data Governance Model

• Work with security and operations to Develop User Access process for Trader Enterprise


Key Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree/diploma or equivalent in an analytical area (Math, Statistics, Computer Science or a field related to information, data management, analytics, or financial services).

• 2-5 + years of experience in IT applications or data management functions.

• Experience with data quality tools (ie: Ataccama, Alation).

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written to effectively promote the importance of data quality and governance and to influence data practices across the organization.

• Excellent collaborative skills with the ability to demonstrate diplomacy and demonstrated planning / report writing skills

• Proficiency in utilizing data profiling tools and methodologies, with a strong ability to promote data standardization.

• Skilled in documenting data lineage and maintaining detailed records of data sources

• Sound analytical, conceptual, organizational and problem solving skills

• Experience in relational databases (Mainframe and distributed DB2, Oracle, SQL Server) & writing SQL queries

• Ability to take initiative in recognizing data quality issues and action continuous improvement efforts.

• Strong proficiency in MS Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Confluence and SharePoint technology
