About the Platform Team

The Platform team empowers other engineering teams at Shakepay by providing the tools, infrastructure, and best practices they need to be autonomous, productive, and reliable. As the Platform Engineering Manager, you’ll ensure we balance fast delivery with operational excellence.

About the Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and grow a team of platform engineers with a focus on Infrastructure, SRE and DevOps .

This role is responsible for people leadership, technical direction, and delivery across platform initiatives that impact every engineering team at Shakepay. You’ll partner closely with Engineers, Engineering leaders, Security, and Compliance, and lead by example, staying hands-on where it matters to shape technical decisions, support delivery, and ensure our platform evolves in step with both developer and business needs. You’ll also play a key role in developing an agentic layer of the platform, building intelligent tooling and agentic workflows that automate repetitive work, assist engineers in complex tasks, and enable teams across the company to interact with systems and data in new ways

You don’t need to be the deepest expert in every area, but you must be technically strong enough to set direction, challenge assumptions, and make tradeoffs across DevEx, infrastructure, and reliability.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead, coach, and grow a team of platform engineers across Infrastructure, DevOps and Developer Experience.
  • Set technical direction for platform architecture and ensure roadmap execution
  • Balance short-term delivery with long-term investments in tooling, infrastructure, and reliability
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and operational tooling in a regulated environment
  • Design and build AI-powered internal tools and agentic workflows that automate tasks and augment engineering productivity
  • Improve developer productivity by reducing friction in onboarding, CI/CD, and local-to-prod workflows
  • Ensure systems are secure, scalable, observable, and resilient as Shakepay grows
  • Own incident management practices, postmortems, and sustainability of the on-call rotation
  • Collaborate closely with product engineering, security, and compliance stakeholders
  • Advocate for platform work by tying technical initiatives to business and customer impact
Who We’re Looking For
  • 10+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps or SRE roles
  • 3+ years managing and growing high-performing teams
  • Familiarity with technologies like Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, ArgoCD, Datadog, PostgreSQL, CI/CD tooling, and GitOps
  • Experience operating production systems and supporting on-call rotations
  • Ability to set technical direction across both developer experience and infrastructure
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a focus on business impact
  • Comfort using AI tools in your day-to-day workflow to accelerate development, debugging, and learning

Bonus points

  • Experience in fintech or other regulated environments
  • Prior experience as a Staff or Senior Engineer before moving into management
  • Interest in Bitcoin and excitement to learn more

The base salary range for this position is $209,000-$253,000 CAD. Base pay may vary based on factors such as years of experience, skills and qualifications. Additionally, employees are eligible for equity,  pay increases based on performance, benefits including health and dental care, and paid time off.
