As an engineering director at Modular leading the GenAI Enterprise team, you'll build something from the ground up — a team dedicated to making Modular's GenAI platform work flawlessly for each customer's unique challenges. Your team will dive deep into specific customer requests, researching their problems and optimizing solutions so they work perfectly for their particular use case. You'll collaborate closely with customers and product teams to evaluate requests, demonstrate value, and ensure the Modular platform delivers exactly what enterprise customers require. This is a rare chance to shape both a team and a product while working across the entire stack to bring Modular's vision to life.
LOCATION: Candidates based in the US or Canada are welcome to apply. You can work in our office in Los Altos, CA or remotely from home. Onboarding for new hires is conducted in-person in our Los Altos, CA office.
What you will do:- Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for enterprise prospects and customers, diving deep into their unique challenges and requirements.
- Deliver and demonstrate real, measurable value of the Modular platform to customers through targeted production solutions.
- Own customer satisfaction by ensuring every solution your team delivers exceeds expectations and proves its worth.
- Collaborate with the product team to qualify as well as vet new prospects and support existing customers.
- Channel customer insights and feedback back to engineering and product teams, ensuring we stay ahead of real-world needs.
- Cultivate and sustain robust relationships with customer leadership and technical stakeholders, facilitating the successful deployment and expansion of their applications.
- 7+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical roles where you solved hard problems alongside clients
- 3+ years of management experience with a proven track record of building high-performing collaborative teams
- In-depth understanding of the GenAI execution lifecycle, deployment methodologies, along with testing and quality evaluation methodologies
- Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and understandable language that resonates with for both clients and internal teams
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly prototype and deliver Proofs of Concept (POCs) that win customer confidence
- Adept at navigating ambiguity and ability to exercise sound judgment to identify appropriate solutions and tools, while avoiding unnecessary complexity.
- Hands-on experience with production AI workloads including scaling and serving large models
- Proficiency in Mojo, Python, C++, or CUDA programming languages, plus familiarity with frameworks such as MAX, Pytorch, or vLLM

The estimated base salary range for this role to be performed in the US, regardless of the state, is $261,000.00 - $363,000.00 USD.
The estimated base salary range for this role to be performed in Canada, regardless of the province, is $256,000.00 - $356,000.00 CAD.
The salary for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of permissible, non-discriminatory job-related factors, which include but are not limited to education, training, work experience, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future. The total compensation for a candidate will also include annual target bonus, equity, and benefits, with equity making up a significant portion of your total compensation.
