In the role of Engineer in Training II, you will ensure risk assessments for pipeline integrity programs are developed, carried out, and effective. You will also provide technical support for distribution assets on integrity matters and play a lead role in preparing technical material.

Note:

  • Salary range: $72,000 - $90,000/year.

What You Will Do:

  • Support the data, process, modelling development and enhancements for Enhanced Distribution Integrity Management Program (EDIMP) program.

  • Perform analysis and assessment of the operational reliability and risk of integrity programs using a consistent framework consistent with the GDS Risk governance requirements.

  • Support Integrity software implementation, administration, enhancements, and support for Integrity sub-programs including data stewardship of Integrity datasets used in Integrity assessments.

  • Support the development, enhancements, accuracy, validation, implementation, and QA of risk models for EDIMP using quantitative risk assessment methodologies and modelling expertise.

  • Perform root cause analysis, risk refinement and what-if assessments to quantify the impact of possible remedial actions.

  • Support continued evolution of the integrity risk modelling approach including cross-business unit collaboration and understanding of industry trends and best practices.

  • Use engineering statistics, diagnostics, simulations, machine learning, and data analytics to support effective integrity & risk decisions.

Who You Are:

Required

  • Engineering degree with 2 years of experience.

  • Proficient in computer science concepts and experience in various coding languages (e.g. SQL, VB, Python, etc.).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred

  • Relevant industry experience in conducting and managing quantitative risk assessments (QRAs), especially FTA, ETA and consequence analysis considered an asset.

  • Relevant work experience including pipeline engineering, station engineering, integrity management, and risk assessment considered an asset.

  • Experience building analytical models, statistical modelling, applied data science, machine learning, model evaluation considered an asset.

  • Office environment.

  • <10% of travel is required.
