We are seeking a highly motivated Energy Analyst to support our day-to-day operations and assist in managing activities in various North American Energy Market. This is a hands-on role focused on operational execution, data analysis, bid preparation, event monitoring, and settlement support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and keen to learn about the intricacies of energy markets, with a long-term view of growing into a key member of our market operations team.
What You'll Do
- Support daily operations for the various energy markets Rodan participates in, support includes baseline validation, market monitoring, bid/event readiness, auction preparation, and settlement reconciliation.
- Prepare and review bid submissions for demand-response (DR), ancillary services, capacity, and other relevant market products.
- Monitor market rules, regulatory changes, and compliance requirements; ensure readiness and adherence for participation in energy market programs.
- Collect, validate, and analyze operational data; maintain data integrity, run QA, troubleshoot discrepancies, and prepare regular performance reports.
- Assist in performance tracking and reporting to clients and internal stakeholders, including post-event reporting, revenue/cost calculations, and KPIs.
- Support onboarding of new clients or assets, including setting up monitoring, documentation, and compliance checks.
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (Data Services, Finance, Operations, Client Services) to ensure smooth execution and delivery of market services.
- Continuously help identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to streamline operations and reduce manual workload.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Energy Management or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
- 3+ years of experience in energy markets operations, utilities, demand response, asset dispatch, or a related field, or a demonstrated interest and strong analytical aptitude for energy markets.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills; comfortable working with data, excel-based modeling/spreadsheets.
- Good understanding or willingness to learn about North American Energy Markets, capacity/ancillary services, demand response frameworks, andgrid-market interactions.
- Detail-oriented, organized, able to manage time-sensitive tasks and handle multiple responsibilities concurrently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to prepare clear reports and interact with internal stakeholders and clients.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement and learning.
- Exposure to energy markets (IESO, MISO, or other North American markets).
- Experience with data analysis or scripting tools (Excel advanced functions, Python, Power BI, etc.).
- Interest in demand response, battery storage, DERs, or other grid-capacity/flexibility services.
- Smooth and reliable day-to-day operations in markets, good understanding of energy market programs such as demand response.
- Consistently on-time and accurate customer performance tracking, settlement reconciliation, and reporting.
- Reduction in operational errors or compliance risks; improved data integrity and reliability.
- Clear operational documentation and process workflows developed to support scaling.
- Ability to support onboarding of new customers/assets with minimal supervision; growing independence and ownership over
