About The Role

Electrical Traffic Signal Designer is responsible for supporting the design, development, and implementation of traffic signal. This role involves preparing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with municipal and provincial standards.

Electrical Traffic Signal Designer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, assists in project coordination, and participates in field reviews and inspections. The position also contributes to problem-solving, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives, delivering reliable and efficient traffic signal solutions that meet client and project requirements.

Jon Description

  • Design and implementation of electrical systems for Infrastructure projects, including Traffic signal.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, specifications, and reports in accordance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into larger projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and design teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, local codes, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in client and project meetings, providing valuable input and insights.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Electrical department through the review and development of standards and templates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree on Electrical Engineering , Civil engineering or College diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology
  • 3-5+ years of progressive experience in traffic signal, roadway and electrical design
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience in traffic signal design
  • Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable transportation standards (OTM BOOK 12, OPSD , OPSS)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D softwares used for infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with both internal teams and external clients.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and mentor teams.
  • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and energy-efficient design practices.

Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred but not required):

  • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and energy-efficient design practices.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with a Canadian engineering regulator
