We are looking for an experienced Francophone Editor to join Spotify’s Canadian Editorial team. The role can be based in Montreal or Toronto.

You will contribute with your expertise to a variety of music-related projects in the company, including playlists curation and cross-functional work, with a focus on the French-Canadian market. You will bring deep cultural and music insights to craft highly engaging music experiences for listeners beyond playlists. You will ensure an unbiased editorial voice for a multitude of moods, moments and genres, and you will help drive artist discovery through a large editorial ecosystem of playlists and tools. You will demonstrate a team player spirit, a deep understanding for performance-oriented analytics and will have your ear to the ground in the Canadian music community, with special attention to fandoms, trends and virality.

Please submit a resume in English.

What You'll Do

  • Curate and maintain a large number of playlists for Canada, with a focus on the Québec market and francophone sub-genres
  • Help elaborate and maintain an editorial strategy for the Canadian market, with a particular focus on Québec
  • Listen to music from a wide range of genres and identify trends
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams on projects and campaigns related to the French-Canadian market, as well as the Canadian market as a whole
  • Understand and gain insight of consumer behaviours by analyzing data and analytics.
  • Collaborate with international editorial teams on a variety of projects and programming initiatives.
  • Be an ambassador within the company for artists from Canada, helping them grow their fanbase through internal workflows.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years' experience in the music industry, programming/curating music for digital platforms/media, TV or other media outlets, where connecting and serving audiences with music experiences, artists and/or creators in today’s music landscapes has been an integral part of your job and missions.
  • Expert knowledge of French-Canadian music culture, present and past.
  • You possess a perfect level of written and spoken French and English.
  • You live and breathe music every day and have a deep knowledge of music and culture, with a focus on Canada, and an excellent grasp of the international music landscape.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and proactively interpret analytics.
  • A strong understanding of, and experience with, Spotify as a user and fan.
  • Ability to travel when needed.

Where You'll Be

  • This role will be based in Montreal or Toronto
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings in the Toronto office, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.

What you need to know about the Toronto Tech Scene

Although home to some of the biggest names in tech, including Google, Microsoft and Amazon, Toronto has established itself as one of the largest startup ecosystems in the world. And with over 2,000 startups — more than 30 percent of the country's total startups — Toronto continues to attract new businesses. Be it helping entrepreneurs manage their finances, simplifying business operations by automating payroll or assisting pharmaceutical companies in launching new drugs, the city's tech scene is just getting started.
