Job Responsibilities:
In this role, the Disability Manager works with Magna's manufacturing plants to develop, administer and manage WSIB and non-occupational disability programs. In this capacity, this role will ensure illness-related absences are managed in an effective, timely and cost-effective manner through new and existing occupation injury management (WSIB), non-occupational disability management, and absence management programs.
Your Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze corporate disability and claims data to identify trends, costs, and risk areas, using these analytics to drive evidence-based improvements in injury prevention and disability management outcomes.

  • Establish disability management policies, procedures, and metrics that ensure consistency and compliance with legal and corporate requirements.

  • Oversee and support complex WSIB and non-occupational disability cases, providing expert guidance to local HR, claims coordinators and Health & Safety teams on effective disability management.

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training for plant claims coordinators covering early intervention and accommodation principles, WSIB claims management processes, and legal compliance requirements.

  • Act as the corporate liaison with WSIB, insurance carriers, medical consultants, and rehabilitation providers, while partnering with claims coordinators, Health & Safety, HR to ensure the effective integration of disability management and safety programs across the organization.

  • Prepare written submissions for WSIB Appeals & Tribunal cases and present at Oral Hearings, both virtually and in-person, as required.

Who we are looking for
  • 4+ years of experience in case management of WSIB and non-occupational claims.
  • 1+ year of experience managing disability management programs in a multi-site company.
  • Mentoring and training experience.
  • Preferred qualifications: university degree and/or professional designation (COHN, OT Reg, NIDMAR).
  • Extensive knowledge of WSIB Operational Policies and Procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and multitasking skills with ability to work independently.
