What you'll be doing
Wealth Credit Risk supports Private Banking delivering sound, client-focused credit risk management which balances strategic growth with prudent adjudication decisions.  As the Director, you’ll oversee the day-to-day credit adjudication function under the guidance of the Senior Director, helping ensure a consistent approach to high net worth lending decisions across the team. You’ll help lead a broad team of Credit Risk Managers, supported by a smaller group of Team Leads, building capability, strengthening engagement, and driving consistent and sustainable performance. You’ll work closely with Private Banking leadership aligning adjudication decisions with credit risk appetite while maintaining a client-first mindset in support. You’ll also partner with internal teams on controls, regulatory expectations, and key initiatives to support effective processes and clear oversight across the credit risk function.
You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeed
 

  • Credit risk management oversight - Leading the day-to-day credit adjudication function, ensuring adjudication decisions are consistent, well reasoned, and aligned with established credit risk guidelines.

  • People leadership - Coach, develop, and support Credit Risk Managers to build capability, strengthen engagement, and drive strong individual and team performance.

  • Team leadership alignment - Collaborate with Team Leads promoting a consistent leadership approach across the team to support the effective execution of the credit risk management mandate.

  • Business partnership - Work closely with Private Banking leadership to support strategic credit growth while maintaining pragmatic alignment with credit risk appetite

  • Governance and controls - Partner across the business to ensure controls, processes, and risk practices align with regulatory expectations and internal standards.

  • Initiative leadership - Contribute to and help lead business and risk initiatives that improve visibility, strengthen oversight, and support ongoing operational effectiveness.

Who you are

  • You have a degree/diploma in business, finance, economics, or a related field. A master’s degree in business, finance, or economics is an asset.

  • You can demonstrate experience working with high net worth credit,  It’s an asset if you bring experience supporting Private Banking or high net worth credit clients.

  • You have completed relevant financial services or credit-related coursework, including the Canadian Securities Course and Personal Financial Planning Course. It’s an asset if you have completed Level I or higher of the Chartered Financial Analyst program.

  • You are a caring and accountable leader. You have experience developing and implementing strategic team goals. You have experience coaching employees and inspiring successful team performance.
