Job Summary

As a Director, Strategy Execution, you will lead the strategic planning and execution of key business initiatives, driving operational excellence and organizational growth. You will collaborate with accountable executives and senior leadership to develop and implement comprehensive business plans, ensuring alignment with CEO priorities, corporate objectives and optimal resource allocation. You will also foster cross-functional partnerships to deliver key business outcomes, enhance efficiency and achieve long-term business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing, comprehensive support and project leadership to accountable executives and the supporting project team for specific strategic initiatives to ensure success of these initiatives. This support is diverse and spans across the initiative’s lifecycle. Specifically, this includes providing appropriate frameworks and facilitation to ensure clearly defined Business outcomes and OKRs have been defined; leading the development of the approach to the initiative, identifying potential risks, developing work plans and leading any Request for Proposal process if necessary.
  • Support also includes employing strategic problem-solving, risk identification, stakeholder engagement and guidance to Senior leaders for effective decision-making throughout the project, both through the use of appropriate tools and frameworks, facilitation, and leading substantive analysis on key topics.  Be responsible for developing progress reports as appropriate.
  • Be responsible for the measurement of impact and value delivered by strategic initiatives, collaborating with other team members as appropriate.  Provide input on specific initiatives for communications for the relevant SteerCos and Quarterly SMT Days, ensuring transparency and alignment with strategic goals, articulation of known risks to the project and/or ways to strengthen achievement of business outcomes. Present to these forums as appropriate.
  • Be a critical team member in building and strengthening our strategy execution capabilities for strategic initiatives and across the organization. As a director, this person will be responsible for making recommendations on tools, frameworks and approaches the SEF should be adopting, and leading implementation of specific projects to advance the team’s strategy execution capabilities, including success metrics to prove enhanced capabilities.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage relationships with appropriate internal stakeholders, at all levels of the organization. Maintain a pulse on what SEF is doing well and areas of continuous improvement, based on feedback from internal & external stakeholders.
  • Foster strong partnerships with various departments and senior leadership, promoting effective communication and collaboration to achieve business goals.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor business performance, providing regular reports and insights to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports, presentations, and updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders, effectively communicating business performance, insights, and strategic recommendations.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in strategic transformation and execution, managing change initiatives ideally at the enterprise level.
  • Previous experience in Consulting or Investment Management, or other Financial service roles
  • Demonstrated ability to inclusively lead and inspire.
  • Experience working on complex projects or initiatives, understanding change and stakeholder management methodologies and other strategic frameworks.
  • Ability to use innovative tools (including AI) to ensure risks and opportunities are identified and issues are raised.
  • Applies AI-enabled analysis and automation tools to accelerate problem-solving, improve insights and strengthen decision quality across complex, cross-enterprise initiatives
  • Ability to communicate in verbal and written forms complicated or complex information in digestible and easily understandable formats, with senior leaders. Has courage to ensure that difficult decisions are made as necessary.
  • Confidence communicating and interacting with senior management, peers and other team members, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Expert at stakeholder management, including determining how best to influence accountable executives and others in achieving desired outcomes.
  • Deep strategic Problem-solving capabilities (e.g., overcoming barriers, suggesting creative solutions, identifying risks and possible mitigating approaches, and use of data and insight).
  • Ability to provide sophisticated approaches to solutioning ambiguous problems, including testing various hypotheses to achieve agreed business outcomes, breaking down large problems into their component parts, and performing qualitative and quantitative analyses to enable decision-making. Importantly, able to contribute that problem-solving skill set across multiple types of strategic initiatives; has the strategic mindset to adapt approaches to a multitude of initiatives.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to think through problems and recommend solutions
  • Able to analyse and synthesize complex information and identify key ‘so-whats’ that will drive progress on initiatives.
  • Leverages innovative tools and frameworks to ensure risks and opportunities are identified and issues are resolved, including leading pre- and post-mortems for projects, identifying ways to address risks at the start of the initiative and identifying patterns of poor execution, to be addressed across initiatives for strategic initiatives.
