What you'll be doing

As the Director, Strategy and Initiatives, you’ll play a key role in shaping and executing the strategic direction of CIBC Business Banking. You’ll be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that drive growth, innovation, and enhanced client experience. You’ll be working closely with multiple partners such as the Personal and Imperial Service National Office, PBB distribution teams, Product, Legal and Digital team, among others, the role will collaborate on internal initiatives that bring fresh ideas and offerings to market as well as on strategic partnerships with key external organizations to deliver new solutions to clients. In this role, you’ll be working closely with senior leadership across PBB to identify growth opportunities, enhance client experience, and deliver on the bank’s business objectives. This role will be reporting directly to the AVP, National Office, Business Banking.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

  • Strategic Alignment - Support the development, refinement, and implementation of the Business Banking strategic plan, ensuring alignment with short and long term goals, and bringing a unified approach to growth, client experience, digital capabilities and operational excellence. Ensure that issues, organizational risks and opportunities are identified and raised for consideration in the formulation and/or revision of strategy through authoritative analysis, recommendation and voicing of opinions

  • Partnership Development - Continuously assess current and future business needs and opportunities relative to external industry/regulatory considerations. Identify potential partners—including fintechs, service providers, and industry leaders—that can enhance the Business Banking value proposition by evaluating partnership opportunities, conducting due diligence, and negotiating terms to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.

  • Collaborative Execution - Lead strategic initiatives with internal partners (Imperial Service, Personal Banking, Specialized Advice and Commercial Banking) to deliver joint initiatives that drive client connectivity and mutual growth. Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to those initiatives. Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver projects and initiatives on time, while monitoring progress, proactively addressing challenges, and ensure alignment with business objectives while managing resources and timing against business realities.  

  • Strategic Insights - Develop high-impact executive decks (including to Exco) and presentations that clearly communicate key business and project updates, business results and business summaries. Synthesize complex data and insights into visually compelling and easy-to-understand materials tailored for senior leadership and board audiences. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activities to translate market insights into business opportunities and inform strategic planning and decision-making.
