About the Role

eBay Live is redefining commerce by bringing together content, community, and transactions in a real-time, interactive format. Sellers are the foundation of this ecosystem. Their success directly drives buyer engagement, trust, and long-term GMV growth.

We are looking for a Director, Seller Strategy to own the end-to-end seller ecosystem strategy for eBay Live. This role will define how we acquire, activate, scale, and retain sellers globally, while shaping the systems, operating models, and cross-functional alignment required to unlock supply at scale.

This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility across strategy, execution, and influence. You will operate as the central orchestrator of seller growth, partnering deeply across Product, Business Development, Marketing, Trust, and Operations.

What You Will Own

1. Define the End-to-End Seller Strategy

- Own the global seller strategy across onboarding, activation, growth, and retention

- Define seller segmentation, tiering, and lifecycle frameworks

- Establish clear definitions of seller success (productivity, retention, GMV contribution, quality)

- Translate insights into multi-year strategic roadmaps

2. Build and Scale the Seller Growth System

- Design the operating model for seller success across teams and geographies

- Define repeatable playbooks for onboarding, activation, and scaling sellers

- Drive improvements in time-to-first-live, time-to-first-sale, and seller ramp velocity

- Lead development of programs, incentives, and tools that accelerate seller growth

3. Own Seller Performance and Insights

- Establish a standardized metrics framework across the seller lifecycle

- Build a robust insights engine to identify patterns, gaps, and opportunities

- Drive WBRs, MBRs, and exec reporting with a clear seller narrative

- Ensure decisions across the org are grounded in data and seller truth

4. Drive Cross-Functional Alignment and Execution

- Act as the single-threaded leader for seller strategy across the organization

- Partner with Product to shape roadmap priorities grounded in seller needs

- Align with BD, Marketing, and Programming to ensure supply-demand fit

- Work with Trust and Policy to ensure safe, high-quality seller experiences

- Resolve trade-offs and drive end-to-end decisions

5. Build the Future Seller Ecosystem (AI Native)

- Drive AI-native approaches to seller growth and operations

- Enable teams to move from static plans to dynamic, agent-driven systems

- Leverage AI for seller insights, recommendations, and playbook automation

- Establish a culture of rapid experimentation and continuous optimization

What You’ll Bring

- 10–15+ years of experience in marketplaces, ecommerce, or platform ecosystems

- Proven track record of owning and scaling supply-side or customer ecosystems

- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate ambiguity into clear direction

- Experience driving cross-functional alignment at scale without direct authority

- Deep analytical rigor with the ability to turn data into decisions and systems

- Experience influencing senior leadership and shaping org-level strategy

- Interest in live commerce, creator ecosystems, or content-driven marketplaces

- Strong bias for action, ownership, and building from zero to scale

- AI-native mindset with comfort leveraging agents, automation, and rapid prototyping

What Success Looks Like

- A clear, scalable seller strategy adopted across the organization

- Significant improvement in seller activation, productivity, and retention

- Faster time-to-first-live and time-to-first-success for new sellers

- Strong alignment across Product, BD, Marketing, and Trust on seller growth

- A repeatable system that consistently scales high-quality seller supply

- Sellers feel: “It knows me”, “Setup is easy”, “I am in control”

Why This Role Matters

This role is about building the foundation that allows eBay Live to scale. When this role works, seller growth becomes a system, not a series of initiatives.
