What You’ll Be Doing
As the Director of the Quality Assurance Improvement Program (QA) in Internal Audit (IA), you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive QA Framework and annual plan. You will lead the team responsible for performing the internal file reviews, ensuring compliance with IA methodology, regulatory expectations and industry best practices. You will also drive continuous improvement across the department by reviewing IA policies and procedures, as well as processes and strategic performance objectives to provide value add recommendations on areas of improvement. Your responsibilities will contribute directly to Internal Audit’s mandate. This role reports directly to the AVP, Methodology and Professional Practices.

How You’ll Succeed
- Develop and implement a QA framework and annual plan – Lead the design, execution and continuous enhancement of the QA Program, ensuring it fully conforms with the Global Internal Audit Standards and regulatory expectations.
- Lead the execution of internal file and process reviews – Oversee the execution of internal file reviews, effectively tracking QA action plans, identifying systematic QA issues and improvement opportunities and translating findings into actionable recommendations and action plans. Provide authentic leadership by developing and coaching team members, fostering an environment of knowledge sharing, collaboration, effective problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Engage with various stakeholders – Prepare QA results, trends and thematic insights for Audit Committee reporting and present these insights to Internal Audit’s Senior Leadership Team. Incorporate findings into improvements of methodology, training and embedding best practices across the audit lifecycle.
Who You Are
- You’re a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing with an auditing or accounting designation (CA, CPA, CIA).
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Strong knowledge of the Global Internal Audit Standards is an asset.
- You have 10+ years of experience in internal or external audit.
- You have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of CIBC’s Control Framework and regulatory environment is an asset.
