What You’ll Be Doing

The mandate of Procurement is to provide sourcing and contracting services utilizing disciplined governance to enable CIBC to effectively execute against its business priorities. Procurement executes contracts for the supply of products and services used by CIBC with optimal balance of price, risk, quality and organizational impact. The Procurement team also provides support for CIBC Vendor management programs and CIBC’s purchasing and procurement applications. This role is within the Technology and Security portfolio team. As a Director of Procurement you will: lead large complex contract negotiations; create strong and positive working relationships with the business partners we support; manage sourcing initiatives across multiple categories; identify areas of opportunity through analyses of industries and supply markets; analyze cost models for certain key products and services; and support the performance of key suppliers.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Relationship Building – By providing professional high-quality support to CIBC business owners and the extended proposal development teams that could include representatives across the organization. You will liaise and interact with internal stakeholders and suppliers.  
  • Communication – You will interact on a regular basis with roles in the line of business up to and including the Executive level, for purposes of fulfilling those clients sourcing and contracting needs with suppliers. You will work closely with suppliers when implementing a sourcing strategy and work towards finalizing a sourcing deal with the supplier under a contract.
  • Negotiation strategy – You demonstrate leadership in negotiation strategy alignment and contract negotiations, as well as securing of authorizations for agreement execution.
  • People Leader - You will guide, inspire, and manage a team of Sourcing Professionals by prioritizing their professional development and well-being while achieving CIBC's organizational and performance goals. You will work to build trust, foster collaboration, and create an inclusive, positive work environment.
  • Administration - Ensuring that business stakeholders and your partners in Procurement are equipped with accurate and timely information to make informed decisions.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in being able to capture business requirements from various internal stakeholders and translating them into clear and concise supplier requirements. It’s an asset if you have proven project management related to procurement initiatives and technical writing skills related to requirements to be included in supplier contracts. Experience with Technology and Security suppliers would be an asset.
