Who we are

We're Redis. We built the product that runs the fast apps our world runs on. (If you checked the weather, used your credit card, or looked at your flight status online today, you’re welcome.) At Redis, you’ll work with the fastest, simplest technology in the business—whether you’re building it, telling its story, or selling it to our 10,000+ worldwide customers. We’re creating a faster world with simpler experiences. You in?

Why You’ll Love This Job

You will lead the team that builds and evolves the foundational cloud infrastructure layer for every Redis product. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will set technical direction, grow a world-class platform engineering team in Vancouver, and directly shape how Redis provisions, scales, operates, and observes infrastructure at global production scale across AWS and GCP.

You will combine strategic leadership with meaningful technical depth. You will champion the thoughtful, opinionated use of LLMs and AI-assisted development tools across the entire engineering lifecycle while maintaining uncompromising standards of system reliability, security, and code quality. If you are excited to build the platform that powers both today’s real-time workloads and tomorrow’s AI agents — and to do it with a modern, AI-forward engineering culture — this role is for you.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide technical and people leadership for the Cloud Platform Engineering team. Hire, mentor, coach, and grow Senior Platform Engineers and other engineers, building a high-trust, high-ownership culture in Vancouver.

  • Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and multi-year roadmap for Redis Cloud Platform’s core infrastructure services, ensuring the platform elegantly supports all current and future products.

  • Guide the design and delivery of production-grade control plane services, resource lifecycle APIs, multi-cloud provider abstractions, Kubernetes operators and controllers, tenancy and identity patterns, observability integrations, and operational interfaces used by engineering and SRE teams.

  • Establish and continuously raise engineering standards: design reviews, reliability practices (SLOs, metrics, traces, alerts, runbooks, incident response), security posture, and the disciplined use of AI tools to accelerate delivery without sacrificing quality or accountability.

  • Partner closely with Product Engineering, SRE, Security, and Cloud Infrastructure leadership to translate requirements into reliable, scalable platform capabilities and to influence broader engineering strategy.

  • Own end-to-end reliability, performance, security, and operational excellence of the platform services, including upgrades, failure recovery, quotas, auditability, and multi-tenant isolation.

  • Champion the integration of AI/LLM tools into daily engineering workflows (design exploration, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, code review) and explore opportunities to embed AI capabilities directly into the platform.

  • Build and strengthen Redis’ engineering presence and capabilities in Vancouver while contributing to company-wide platform and infrastructure strategy.

What You’ll Need to Have
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in people leadership roles with direct management of platform, infrastructure, or cloud engineering teams.

  • Proven track record of building and scaling production-grade cloud platform services, control planes, or internal developer platforms in a SaaS or cloud-native environment.

  • Hands-on experience in production (operators/controllers, workloads, networking, storage, upgrades, security, troubleshooting) and strong multi-cloud experience across at least two of AWS, GCP, and Azure.

  • Strong software engineering foundation in Go, Java, or Rust (or equivalent), with experience architecting complex distributed systems, APIs, and backend services.

  • Demonstrated success establishing observability, SLOs, incident management, and operational rigor for customer-impacting or platform services.

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar) and deep understanding of cloud fundamentals: compute, networking, DNS, load balancing, IAM, storage, private connectivity, and failure domains.

  • Strong proficiency and opinionated experience using LLMs and AI-assisted development tools as a core part of modern engineering practice. Experience applying AI to infrastructure, platform, or operational problems is a significant advantage.

  • Exceptional ability to create clarity and structure in ambiguous technical domains, combined with outstanding communication, collaboration, and cross-functional leadership skills.

  • Strong ownership mindset and a passion for building reliable systems that developers love to use.

Bonus Points
  • Experience building cloud platforms, managed SaaS infrastructure, or control planes for databases or data-intensive/AI workloads (Redis or Redis Enterprise experience is a big plus).

  • Background in multi-tenant platforms, policy-as-code, compliance automation, service mesh, multi-cluster networking, or hybrid cloud deployments.

  • Experience growing engineering teams or establishing a new office location.

  • Contributions to open-source cloud-native projects (Kubernetes ecosystem, observability, etc.).

  • Experience mentoring engineers through technical leadership or formal management roles.
