What You’ll Be Doing

Investor Relations & Performance Measurement is a strategic function at CIBC that provides senior leadership with insightful financial analysis, market intelligence, and performance reporting to support effective decision-making. The team serves as an important link between CIBC’s senior management and the external investment community, while also delivering enterprise-level analysis of financial and non-financial performance to the Group Executive Leadership Team (G-ELT) and Board of Directors. This Director role is a high-impact position with a primary focus on managing the sell-side relationship and related market intelligence activities. You will lead analysis of external research, maintain a deep understanding of market expectations, and provide actionable insight to strengthen CIBC’s external narrative, valuation positioning, and engagement with the investment community. In addition, you will support broader Investor Relations and Performance Measurement activities, including quarterly reporting support, benchmarking, and management reporting.

You will work closely with partners across Finance (including Strategy, Treasury and CFO Groups), the strategic business units, other stakeholders, and will act as a trusted advisor by bringing an outside-in perspective on market views, peer performance, and valuation drivers. The Director will also provide leadership within the team through coaching, guidance, and support for junior team members.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Sell-Side relationship management – You will lead the review and synthesis of equity research to identify key themes, assumptions, and implications for CIBC. You will develop a strong understanding of external market perspectives and help strengthen the quality, consistency, and accuracy of market views on CIBC’s strategy, performance, and valuation. You will build constructive relationships with equity research stakeholders and use those interactions to enhance feedback loops between the investment community and internal stakeholders.
  • Consensus analysis and modelling – You will consolidate and assess external earnings estimates, identify disconnects between internal and external projections, and provide thoughtful challenge where external conclusions are inconsistent with CIBC’s stated strategy, objectives, or underlying business performance.
  • Market insight and executive briefing – You will provide high-quality analysis and messaging support that helps senior leaders understand investor sentiment, peer positioning, and the drivers of CIBC’s market valuation. You will contribute to executive briefing materials and help prepare leadership for external engagement by distilling complex financial and market information into clear, decision-useful insights.
  • Quarterly Messaging – You will support the quarterly reporting process by providing financial analysis, peer benchmarking, and market context to inform external messaging on key themes. You will contribute to quarter-end activities to support the effective delivery of quarterly earnings releases.
  • Performance measurement and strategic analysis – You will contribute to ongoing analysis of CIBC’s financial and non-financial performance measures and support management in assessing business performance relative to market expectations and communicated targets. You will also support competitive and valuation analysis on key strategic issues.
  • Relationship management and collaboration – You will build strong working relationships across Finance, the business segments, and other internal stakeholders. You will collaborate to gather insights, validate assumptions, and ensure market-facing analysis is well informed, aligned, and responsive to business developments.
  • Coaching and team contribution – You will provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and developmental support to junior team members. You will contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, improving analytical approaches, and helping elevate the quality and consistency of team output.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate strong capital markets, equity research and/or investor relations experience. You bring deep financial analysis and modelling capability, along with a strong understanding of bank valuation, earnings drivers, and capital markets dynamics. You are comfortable interpreting external research, earnings models, and investor sentiment, and using those insights to inform strategic discussion. In addition, you are highly analytical. You can assess complex financial information, identify key issues quickly, and translate your findings into practical recommendations. You bring sound judgment and are comfortable constructively challenging assumptions when needed. Further, you communicate with clarity and confidence. You are able to synthesize detailed financial and market information into concise, compelling messages for senior executives and a range of stakeholders. You are effective both verbally and in writing, and you tailor your communication to the audience.
  • You’re a certified professional. You have current accreditation and are in good standing with CPA or you are a CFA charter-holder with relevant work experience.
  • You're passionate about people. You find meaning in relationships and surround yourself with a diverse network of partners. You connect with others through respect and authenticity.
  • You act like an owner. You thrive when you're empowered to take initiative, go above and beyond, and deliver results.
  • You live your values. You bring high standards, genuine care to your relationships, and want to grow with an employer that shares your values and brings out your best.
