Job Description:

The Director, Information Management Risk will lead the execution of 2nd Line’s IM oversight program. In collaboration with our business risk and technology partners, the incumbent will be responsible for program execution, which includes Maturity Assessments, Key Risk Indicators, Quarterly Board Reporting, Monitoring Plan, and performing ongoing ad-hoc challenges.  

What will you do?

  • Provide independent opinion on the effectiveness of First Line’s management of Data Governance related risks through quarterly Board reporting.

  • Mature Information Management Risk Policy and Enterprise operating guidelines 

  • Develop and conduct data governance maturity assessments in partnership with 1st Line SMEs  

  • Partner with BG Risk teams to develop local Operating Guidelines or transition plans to meet Enterprise requirements

  • Function as 2nd Line SME for Data Management and Records Management best practices to support the following: 

What do you need to succeed?

Experience with:

  • Aligning program goals with business strategy, maintaining a "big picture" view to ensure long-term success. Blend of strategic leadership, complex stakeholder management, and technical proficiency to align multiple concurrent projects with organizational goals

  • Delivering complex transformation initiatives, encompassing people, process and technology aspects of change

  • Identifying, influencing, and managing expectations of diverse stakeholders to ensure project buy-in and success. Fostering collaboration, leading cross-functional teams, and navigating complex organizational environments

  • Utilizing project management tools and methodologies to analyze data for informed, evidence-based decisions

  • Solving problems that don’t have clear solutions or outcomes

Experience with Data Management Frameworks and Risk Management is an asset, including:  

  • Data management and data quality experience in a large, complex enterprise

  • Data Governance best practices   

  • Metadata, Lineage, and Data Quality management

  • Data Residency/Sovereignty management

  • Data Lifecycle & Records management  

  • Maturity Assessments  

  • Understanding of related regulation such as OSFI’s E-21, B-10, and B-13 guidelines

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
