What you'll be doing

As the Director, Governance, Wealth Management Marketing & Communications, you'll lead the governance, control, and risk management practices that support CIBC's Wealth Management Digital, Marketing and Communications team. In this 12-month term role, you'll oversee the review and audit of advisor and business marketing and communications to ensure alignment with internal standards, regulatory obligations, and brand requirements. You'll establish and enhance procedures, guidelines, and governance frameworks that support consistent, efficient, and compliant marketing practices across key channels. With a strong emphasis on Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) requirements, you'll provide expert guidance that helps the business meet regulatory expectations while advancing marketing objectives. You'll also lead a high-performing team and work closely with partners across the business to strengthen controls, improve workflows, and support sound decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $111,060 to $135,950 .
The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.
In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How you'll succeed

  • Regulatory Governance & Oversight - Lead a strong governance framework for Wealth Management Marketing & Communications, with a particular focus on Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) regulatory requirements. Review and audit marketing and communication materials to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, internal policies, brand standards, and approval protocols.
  • Procedures & Guidelines - Establish, implement, and continuously enhance procedures, guidelines, and controls that support compliant marketing activity. Identify opportunities to improve approvals, workflows, documentation, and records management to create efficient and consistent ways of working.
  • Risk Assessment & Decision Support - Apply sound judgment to complex matters and provide clear recommendations to leaders and marketing partners on regulatory risk, communications approach, and compliant options to achieve business objectives. Ensure required disclaimers, content standards, and reputational considerations are reflected across marketing initiatives.
  • Leadership & Team Development - Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team with deep expertise in marketing governance. Foster a collaborative, accountable environment that supports strong execution, thoughtful challenge, and continuous learning.
  • Partnership & Influence - Build strong relationships with business partners, control groups, and external vendors to enable effective governance across digital marketing, social media, advertising, and proposal activity. Influence outcomes through credible guidance, strong communication, and a practical approach to compliance.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate extensive experience in marketing governance within the financial services industry.
  • You bring 8+ years of relevant experience, including strong hands-on expertise with Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) regulatory requirements. Experience with Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) requirements is an asset.
  • You are a caring and accountable leader. You're passionate about developing and coaching to bring out the best in people. You have led diverse, high performing teams in a complex, highly regulated environment.

  • You can demonstrate experience in developing governance procedures, auditing marketing and communications content, and implementing compliance-focused guidelines and controls. It's an asset if you have experience supporting digital marketing, social media, advertising, and proposal governance within Wealth Management.
  • You communicate with impact. You express ideas clearly and confidently when navigating complex issues, providing feedback, and aligning partners around compliant solutions. It's an asset if you're fluent in French.
