What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the VP, Global Privacy & Enterprise Conduct and Culture Risk, this role is responsible for providing leadership and expertise to the overall global privacy AI strategy as well as acting as the primary privacy advisor on strategic digital transformational initiatives – including hyper-personalized digital marketing technologies (eg. CRTeX), data analytics, data decisioning, and integrations, across CIBC’s global operations. The role will ensure effective privacy risk oversight for digital transformational initiatives across CIBC.

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. How you’ll succeed

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the Global Privacy Office’s expert on privacy risks related to AI, emerging digital technologies, and hyper-personalized marketing tools.

  • Risk Assessments: Lead and support Privacy Risk Assessments, Change Initiative Risk Assessments, and Third-Party Risk Assessments for strategic digital projects involving new and emerging technologies.

  • Collaboration: Partner with business units and risk stakeholders to provide guidance on privacy regulatory requirements and engage jurisdictional counterparts.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all strategic digital initiatives comply with global privacy regulations (e.g., PIPEDA, Quebec Law 25, GDPR, and emerging AI requirements).

  • Consent & Process Evaluation: Monitor and assess the adequacy of CIBC’s digital consent mechanisms, standards, processes, tools, training, and communications.

  • Strategic Support: Assist the Senior Director, Privacy Office, and AVP, Global Privacy & Enterprise Conduct and Culture Risk with strategic and tactical program activities.

  • Awareness & Education: Promote privacy awareness and regulatory understanding across the bank.

  • Jurisdictional Assessments: Review cross-border risk assessments and work with the Director, Contracts to tailor privacy contractual terms as needed.

  • Relationship Building: Maintain strong relationships with business areas and contribute to joint initiatives.

Who you are

  • You’re a certified professional 7+ years of experience across privacy, AI, emerging technologies, digital initiatives and/or regulatory compliance.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to interact with and influence senior management

  • Able to work independently with high productivity.

  • You can demonstrate strong knowledge of global privacy regulatory requirements including AI.

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, verbal and written communication skills.

  • You’re a certified professional Holds appropriate privacy certifications, including CIPP/C, CIPM and/or AIGP with the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

  • Experience working in a privacy compliance role for digital channels
