In this role, you’ll be a linchpin for delivering coherent and compelling communications around financial, and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) communications. You’ll not just disseminate financial information; you’ll articulate our fiscal achievements and business strategies, enriching our brand’s market standing while helping to shape executive communications across various platforms and stakeholders. 

Operating under the direct purview of the Senior Director of Corporate Affairs, you’ll be the synchronizing force among various departments. In this individual contributor role, you will collaborate seamlessly with teams from finance to marketing, legal to investor relations, and executive leadership. You will drive unified messaging that is both accurate and impactful. Your relationship management skills will be characterized by a vital blend of trust, mutual respect, and specialist knowledge. 

The ideal candidate will possess unmatched skills in navigating complex challenges, articulating solutions in a manner that’s both clear and engaging. Prior experience in financial and executive communications within the technology sector is indispensable, and familiarity with the dynamics of publicly listed companies is highly favored. 

You enjoy being an individual contributor as the nature of the role requires you to thrive in the fluidity and ambiguity of a matrixed environment, operating without junior support. Your attention to detail will be nothing short of meticulous, and your experience in working closely with senior executives will set you apart. 

Regular engagements with the media are an integral part of this high-stakes, high-visibility role. You’ll not only manage our relationships with business and technology journalists, including Reuters who maintain editorial independence but will bring to the table an established network on media contacts in the technology sector, enabling you to make an immediate impact. 

About the Role
In this opportunity as Director, Financial Communications, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Craft and execute holistic communications strategies for financial reporting and M&A activities that are fully aligned with the company’s broader goals, vision, and business imperatives. 
  • Develop investor-focused communications materials, such as quarterly and annual reports, press releases, and investor decks, while adhering to legal regulations and industry best practices. 
  • Contribute to a comprehensive CEO PR framework, supporting the development of messaging, speeches, and op-ed pieces that resonate with diverse stakeholders, including employees, investors, customers and public.  
  • Lead in media management for matters related to financials communications, and M&A. 
  • Function as a trusted advisor to senior executives, offering high-level strategic counsel on financial messaging, executive media handling and M&A 
  • Develop investor-focused communications materials, such as quarterly and annual reports, press releases, and investor decks, while adhering to legal regulations and industry best practices. 
  • Collaborate closely with the finance team to distill complex financial data into easily digestible insights for external dissemination. 
  • Partner with various teams to weave financial narratives into wider corporate initiatives and campaigns. 
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of industry trends, competitor moves, and regulatory shifts to offer timely advice and adjustments to the company’s financial communications strategy. 
  • Support the team in crisis communications, being part of a roster of cover (including out of hours) that includes incidents that hold reputational risk for the business. 

 

About You

You're a fit for the role of Director, Financial Communications if your background includes:

  • Proven experience (8+ years) in financial and executive communications, investor relations or corporate communications within a publicly traded global technology company or financial services organization. 
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, accounting principles, financial analysis and regulatory requirements and best practices related to financial disclosures and investor relations. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to distill complex financial information into clear and compelling messages for various audiences. 
  • Deep knowledge of and excellent relationships with top-tier media contacts, skilled media relations capabilities with the ability to lead media outreach programs at a senior executive level. 
  • Experience of developing and maintaining proactive relationships at a C-suite level within a matrixed organizational structure. 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to collaborate and build consensus effectively across functions and with senior executives. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Please note: Due to the leadership and advanced network required in this role there will be a requirement to work from our office a minimum of 3 days a week, with a requirement for some business travel.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.

Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $156,450 - $290,550.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $135,800 - $252,200.

This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
