What You’ll Be Doing

CIBC Asset Management (CIBC AM) is one of Canada's largest asset management firms with approximately $200 billion in assets under management and possess over forty-five years of experience designing and implementing client solutions. We are leaders in providing a broad range of high-quality global investment management solutions to retail and institutional clients.

The successful candidate will lead the marketing strategy and execution for CIBC Asset Management ETFs to enhance the bank’s market position and drive asset growth. Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing for Asset Management the candidate will collaborate closely with investment teams, distribution partners and the product team to support the ambitious growth objectives of the business through the delivery of new ETF products and effective marketing acquisition campaigns. The candidate will also collaborate closely with marketing partners such as digital, events, thought leadership, compliance, design, creative and media agency partners to deliver best-in-class marketing programs. The ideal candidate will possess a good understanding of the ETF landscape, including capital markets, index and factor investing, and asset allocation strategies.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $111,060 to $152,710 .
The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.
In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How you’ll succeed

  • Marketing strategy development- Partner with internal stakeholders to understand the business objectives and develop a marketing strategy based on market research, competitive scans, and strategic differentiation opportunities to assist with the growth and expansion of our ETF business.
  • Campaign development and execution- Integrate business goals and project objectives to lead and develop large-scale marketing campaigns utilizing paid, owned and earned media, working with internal and external agencies and media partners. Strong knowledge of digital and performance marketing will be an asset.
  • Content creation- With a deep understanding of the industry, support the strategy and execution of ETF marketing content across traditional, digital and new media to reach target audiences with content that’s relevant and valued. Develop high-quality educational content, including white papers, webinars, and digital content, to enhance client understanding of ETF products and strategies.
  • Product positioning and messaging- With a strong understanding of the investment industry, you will work closely with the product team to combine complex product information with expert storytelling to craft compelling messaging to effectively position the value of our ETFs or ETF families.
  • Events and sponsorships- Identify and evaluate sponsorship opportunities that increase brand visibility and engagement with key audiences (institutions, advisors and DIY investors). Lead the execution and delivery of sponsored and owned events to create rich and engaging client experiences, establishing the firm as a leader in ETF strategy and innovation.
  • Measure impact- Establish measures of success for marketing campaigns and share progress, insights, and recommendations for optimizing results with agency partners, other team members and leaders across the organization.
  • Stakeholder management – Partner collaboratively with internal teams, including, product, sales, and functional marketing teams to ensure cohesive and effective execution of ETF marketing plans.
  • Leadership – Lead and develop a team consisting of a Senior Manager and a Marketing Associate, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management. Collaborate with Senior Leadership to report on results, share key insights, and drive strategic alignment across the organization.

Who You Are

  • You have a degree with a specialization in Marketing, Business or Commerce (CFA, CIM, CSC considered an asset).
  • You can demonstrate 7-10 years’ experience of related marketing experience in the asset management industry.  Excellent knowledge and understanding of the investment industry regulations and products. Experience leading large-scale, multi-channel marketing campaigns and performance marketing campaigns.
  • You're passionate about people. You find meaning in relationships and surround yourself with a diverse network of partners and have a proven track record of building strong partnerships across sales and product teams, collaborating across multiple levels of a globally diverse organization.
  • You know that details matter. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.  You are an experienced leader, with experience leading strategic and tactical marketing initiatives.
