The Position: 

As a Computer Vision Engineering Director, you will oversee multiple teams of highly skilled engineers building and deploying the next generation of sports tech CV models & applications. You will be responsible for setting the strategic vision for the Computer Vision domain, guiding the technical direction, and scaling the team and infrastructure to meet future demands. You will work closely with cross-functional leaders and senior executives across the organization, and report directly to the Senior Director of Engineering.

The Computer Vision team at GameChanger is rapidly growing and is working on the frontier of placing the power of computer vision into mobile apps for youth sports. As the Engineering Director of the Computer Vision organization at GameChanger, you will be instrumental in shaping the culture and setting the tone for how we build and deliver innovative CV solutions. You will inspire and align teams to our strategic objectives, fostering an environment of collaboration, growth, and high performance. As the organization grows in both size and scope, you will provide oversight and guidance to ensure that teams are empowered and equipped to tackle complex challenges. Your leadership will be key to scaling the group effectively, ensuring that we remain agile and focused on delivering impactful results while maintaining a strong, customer-centric culture.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide strategic leadership to multiple teams of engineers, fostering a high-performance and high-trust environment.

  • Develop and execute a long-term vision for the Computer Vision domain, aligning with company-wide goals and objectives.

  • Collaborate with executive teams, senior leaders, and cross-functional departments to integrate computer vision and machine learning solutions across GameChanger's portfolio.

  • Stay up-to-date on state-of-the-art models and techniques, and drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies within the teams.

  • Champion a culture of innovation and experimentation, supporting the rapid iteration and deployment of new features and improvements.

  • Promote responsible engineering practices across the entire engineering organization, setting standards and ensuring compliance.

  • Mentor and develop engineering managers and senior engineers, helping them to gain technical breadth and depth, improve judgment, and grow into tomorrow’s leaders.

  • Build and lead a diverse team, including backend developers, MLOps, infrastructure engineers, mobile/full-stack engineers, and computer vision specialists, to create a well-rounded and autonomous unit within engineering.

Who You Are:

  • 5+ years of experience managing teams in the machine learning space, with a strong preference for computer vision expertise. Experience leading multiple teams or departments is highly desirable.

  • Experience developing and executing strategic plans in a fast-paced technology environment.

  • Excels at developing future leaders. Proven ability to coach Engineering Managers and guiding them in growing their teams and advancing their careers.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A PhD is a plus.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with popular computer vision and machine learning libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and OpenCV.

  • Extensive experience with all stages of an ML project, from dataset management to model training, iteration, and deployment, including infrastructure to accelerate each stage.

  • Proven track record of working in and leading teams in Lean and Agile environments.

  • Someone who can inspire and connect people to the mission of serving our users

  • Proven history of delivering impactful products and scaling engineering organizations.

The target salary range for this position is between $250,000 and $280,000. This is part of a total compensation package that includes incentive, equity, and benefits for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by several factors including experience, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We constantly review all teammate pay to ensure a great compensation package that is fair and equal across the board.
