Who we are:

Centah is a scaling Software as a Service (SaaS) company that is a part of Financeit. We help home improvement businesses manage lead intake, routing, and conversion through a configurable platform at the center of their operations.

We’re at a pivotal moment. After years of building custom solutions for a small number of large clients, we’re now evolving into a scalable, market-wide SaaS platform. This transition is intentional and comes with real opportunity. You won’t be maintaining a mature product, you’ll be helping shape what it becomes.

The work here is hands-on and high-impact, with real ownership and visibility across the business. You’ll collaborate closely with different teams, contribute to key decisions, and see the direct impact of your work.

We’re looking for people who are excited to build, take ownership, and play a meaningful role in what Centah becomes next.

About the role:

Centah is looking for a passionate and experienced engineering leader to own the technical direction, execution, and operational excellence of our software development and quality assurance teams. Reporting into the SVP & GM, you will drive the evolution of our SaaS platform, improve engineering delivery, strengthen quality practices, and help scale a high-performing product engineering organization.

Leveraging a strong technical background and deep appreciation for quality engineering, you will guide architectural decisions, improve delivery practices, and build a high-performing engineering culture. Armed with exceptional organizational skills and a relentless growth mindset, you will collaborate across the business to unlock the highest potential of every engineer on your team.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the technical direction, architectural roadmap, and scaling strategy for Centah’s SaaS platform.
  • Champion organizational alignment through clear, consistent, and context-rich communication with the engineering team, executive leadership, and key stakeholders
  • Improve engineering execution through effective SDLC practices, delivery metrics, planning rhythms, and cross-functional communication.
  • Partner with Product to inform the quarterly roadmap priorities, balancing new functionality, platform modernization, technical maintenance, and operational risk.
  • Strengthen operational excellence across production support, incident response, observability, release management, and defect prevention.
  • Drive organizational health and high performance by administering regular performance cycles, defining outcome-based KPIs with the team, and using clear reporting to demonstrate the Development Team's ROI to executives
  • Evolve management practices to build and scale an empowered, highly connected engineering team, working alongside Development Managers and QAs to ensure timely delivery and alignment with career path expectations
  • Guide architectural decisions related to reliability, scalability, performance, data integrity, authorization boundaries, and multi-tenant SaaS design
  • Maintain and improve engineering practices that support SOC2 compliance, security, and responsible handling of customer data.
  • Use engineering and product metrics to communicate team impact, delivery health, and investment priorities to executive stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) across infrastructure, tooling, delivery practices, and engineering investments.

Requirements

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership, including direct management of software development, QA, and/or DevOps/platform engineering teams.
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Experience leading engineering teams of approximately 10–20 people across multiple workstreams, squads, or pods.
  • Strong architectural judgment with the ability to guide decisions around reliability, scalability, performance, security, data integrity, and maintainability.
  • Experience with cloud-based applications, preferably in AWS.
  • Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS platforms and authorization boundaries.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails or similar backend frameworks.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frontend frameworks; Ember.js experience is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, deployment pipelines, environment management, observability, logging, error monitoring, and production support.
  • Deep expertise in modern software development life cycles (SDLC) and agile delivery methodologies
  • Proven ability to partner with Product and business stakeholders to align technical decisions with company goals.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, hiring, and team development.
  • Clear understanding of engineering and product metrics that drive delivery performance, quality, and business impact.
  • A genuine passion for team development and continuous improvement.

Nice-to-have experience:

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application deployment.
  • Experience with observability and production monitoring tools such as Datadog and Rollbar.
  • Experience building or improving CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications or moving from VM-based deployments toward containerized or cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Experience in integration-heavy, workflow-heavy, fintech, marketplace, or B2B SaaS environments.
