The Director, Derivatives Middle Office Operations, plays a critical leadership role within our Derivatives Valuation and Analytics team, part of the Global Derivatives Services group. This position leads the development and execution of robust operational processes that ensure every stage of the derivatives lifecycle is accurately captured, valued, reported, and aligned with organizational policies and strategic priorities. Success in this role requires strong collaboration across key partners, including Securities Operations, the Investment Controllers Group, Market Risk Management, Treasury, Model & Analytics, ALM, and the Front Office, to drive operational excellence and support the organization’s evolving derivatives activities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead Derivatives Middle Office Operations and collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners across Front Office, Back Office, Risk, Treasury, Finance, and Operations.

  • Oversee and enhance middle‑ and back‑office infrastructure, ensuring accurate management of brokerage accounts, collateral, settlements, FX, and accounting, while resolving variances and stakeholder disputes.

  • Ensure accurate trade capture, data integrity, and daily pricing processes through rigorous validation, confirmation, and market data comparisons.

  • Maintain strong controls and oversight for intra‑book and off‑market transactions, policy compliance, and operational risk mitigation.

  • Provide leadership to the team while driving continuous process improvements, maintaining comprehensive documentation, and supporting new product development.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain derivatives accounting/operational policies and the Middle Office infrastructure and MIS to monitor and optimize operational performance.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; professional designations such as CFA, CAIA, or FRM are considered assets.

  • 7+ years of investment operations experience, including 5+ years working with derivative products in global financial institutions.

  • Strong expertise in exchange‑traded and OTC derivatives, including middle‑ and back‑office processes, ISDA documentation, derivatives accounting, and custodian/clearing operations.

  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex issues, supported by proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Bloomberg, and database tools; experience with Findur, SimCorp Dimension, or Aladdin is an asset.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities, with a proven track record of building strong relationships and thriving in fast‑changing, collaborative environments.

  • Demonstrated leadership, adaptability, and teamwork, with the ability to navigate shifting priorities and contribute effectively to high‑performance cultures.

Salary range is expected to be between

$125,100.00 CAD - $175,100.00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
