CIBC’s Global Markets business focuses on delivering expert financial and economic analysis and savvy deal-making capabilities to clients in Canada and around the world. The Global Markets team supports fixed income, foreign exchange, commodities, derivatives, equities, and growth markets and is focused on building a strong, innovative relationship-oriented bank.

We are hiring on the Conversion Services team, a leading FX product portfolio in ASG. This team helps to enable international cardholders to pay in their local currency through various channels. These optional services provide foreign cardholders with the transparency of knowing exactly how much they will be debited. Since its inception, the product team has built partnerships with 30+ financial institutions to enable this white label solution on 100,000+ ATMs worldwide .
 

In this role, you will lead, build and manage a high performing Data team within the Conversion Services group, driving data-driven initiatives that align with ASG’s strategic objectives. Operating in a fast-paced environment, you will be part of a dynamic, execution-focused product team. Your primary responsibilities will include optimizing efficiency and accuracy within the data science team while driving revenue growth and delivering valuable insights for our clients and businesses. You will leverage your expertise in statistics, machine learning, and optimization to transform business challenges into effective data science solutions.

How You’ll Succeed

• Business Planning and Management: You’ll develop and execute the Data team strategy, aligning data science initiatives to enable ASG to achieve its mandate, goals, and objectives. You’ll lead and mentor a data science team, setting strategic plans that align with ASG's overall vision. Your focus will be on meeting performance targets that support the Conversion Services plan through data-driven insights and initiatives. You’ll regularly monitor performance and market trends to provide valuable information, ensuring that all regulatory, business, and financial reporting is completed accurately and on time.

• Product and Process Improvement: You’ll actively seek concrete and practical ways to enhance our products and overall value proposition for clients. You will review existing processes to identify areas for improvement, propose productivity-enhancing solutions, and manage the team through the execution of these initiatives. Your focus will be on driving continuous improvement to ensure that our offerings meet the evolving needs of our clients effectively.

• Relationship Management & Collaboration: You’ll build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales, delivery, and technology teams, as well as external clients, to successfully execute initiatives and bring new clients and capabilities to market. You’ll communicate complex concepts clearly and elegantly, collaborating closely with business partners to understand their challenges by asking insightful questions and gathering necessary information. Your ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of business problems will enable you to address any questions or concerns raised by our partners, ensuring alignment and fostering productive collaboration.

• Leadership & Development: You’ll build, support, and mentor a high-performing team by fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and effective problem-solving. You’ll set the appropriate context when assigning work, ensuring that each individual's role aligns with and supports the achievement of ASG's overall goals. Your leadership will inspire team members to excel and contribute meaningfully to the organization's success.

Who you Are

• You have an advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, other related field, or equivalent work experience.

• You have at least 5 years of experience working in an AI/ML, Data Science, or advanced analytics function.

• You have 5+ years of demonstrated experience working with modern data science, machine learning and AI/ML toolkits, such as Pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyCaret, Huggingface/Transformers.

• You have demonstrated interest in Capital Markets. You’ve built a strong knowledge of Capital Markets, FinTech or the financial services industries which allows you to analyze complex issues and identify & develop innovative opportunities.

• You’re goal oriented. You’re motivated by the desire to build a thriving new business, in a fast-paced and competitive environment, with aggressive targets.
