What you'll be doing

Our Personal Banking and Insurance team is focused on creating product experiences that protect clients and support the bank’s lending and card businesses. As a Director, Creditor Insurance Product Management, you’ll lead the strategy, development, and ongoing management of creditor insurance products across mortgages, loans, lines of credit, and credit cards. You’ll manage the end-to-end client experience, including product design, pricing, processes, frontline enablement, and performance monitoring to ensure our offerings deliver meaningful client value and strong business results. You’ll stay closely connected to market trends, the competitive landscape, and changes in the legal and regulatory environment, and translate those insights into product enhancements and business priorities. You’ll also lead product-related initiatives from planning through implementation, while partnering across lending, cards, operations, technology, legal, compliance, finance, and external insurance providers. In addition, you’ll provide people leadership to a small team and help create a high-performing, accountable, and inclusive environment.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

  • Product strategy and planning - Develop annual product plans for creditor insurance products that optimize profitability, efficiency, and client satisfaction. Monitor market activity, competitor offerings, and product trends to inform recommendations and future product direction.

  • Product management - Lead the end-to-end management of creditor insurance products, including pricing, performance metrics, process enhancements, and frontline training considerations. Ensure products continue to meet client protection needs and remain aligned to the underlying credit products they support.

  • Regulatory and risk oversight - Maintain a strong understanding of banking and insurance regulatory requirements, internal risk policies, and compliance expectations. Monitor legal and regulatory developments and lead changes needed to keep products compliant and reduce reputational risk.

  • Project delivery - Lead product-led initiatives of varying size and complexity, managing scope, timelines, budgets, and benefits realization. Coordinate cross-functional partners and support effective change management for impacted teams.

  • Relationship management - Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders including lending product teams, card product teams, retail operations, technology, legal, compliance, and finance, as well as external insurance providers. Influence senior stakeholders and executive partners to align on priorities, decisions, and delivery plans.

  • People leadership - Lead, coach, and support a small team by setting clear context, managing performance, removing barriers, and fostering an environment where people can do their best work. Hire and develop talent while ensuring policies, standards, and controls are applied fairly and consistently.

Who you are

  • You’re an experienced product leader. You bring deep experience in product management, ideally within banking, insurance, or a closely related financial services environment. You know how to balance client value, commercial outcomes, and operational feasibility.

  • You know creditor insurance and the regulatory landscape. You have strong knowledge of creditor insurance products, banking and insurance frameworks, and the risk and compliance considerations that shape product decisions. You’re comfortable translating regulatory and legal changes into action.

  • You’re a strategic thinker with strong business judgment. You can assess market dynamics, product performance, and business opportunities to make informed recommendations. You’re confident working with financial metrics, profitability considerations, and benefit realization.

  • You’re a collaborative influencer. You build credibility quickly and work effectively with senior leaders, cross-functional partners, and external providers. You communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and can influence decisions even when you don’t have direct authority.

  • You’re a people leader. You have experience leading and developing high-performing teams, setting clear expectations, and creating an inclusive and accountable team environment. You know how to connect individual goals to broader business priorities.

  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
