Solen owns several software companies in various market spaces: Human Resource Technology, Fleet Telematics, Asset Management,  E-Health, Document Management, and other innovative software solutions in a variety of industries. Solen is backed by a group of advisors and investors that have built software businesses of material scale (10-100M in ARR) and advised many.

About the role: At Solen, it is Day 1 of a journey that will last decades. The Corporate Development Director (CDD) will be a leader in the company’s sourcing efforts by identifying new qualified vertical market software companies, connecting with software owners who are considering the sale of their business, building rapport and driving engagement with those companies over time. The CDD will support junior members of the Corporate Development team, and work closely with the M&A team, leveraging their existing prospecting and sales skills to help the M&A function execute multiple deals each year. The scope of this role offers candidates a pathway to potential future sales leadership, M&A and operational roles, if desired. You will be a strategic partner for the future of Solen’s strategy.

The successful candidate will work from Solen's office in Toronto, Canada / hybrid.

  • You strike to continually improve skills and are coachable and open to feedback.
  • You have 5 - 7 years experience in M&A deal sourcing or origination in a private equity firm or a VMS acquirer, or sales experience within a software specific industry.
  • You have strong academic achievement in a related post-secondary degree (i.e. business, commerce, communication, finance, economics, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and evaluate attractive companies based on Solen’s investment criteria.
  • Contact prospects through a mix of channels including email, phone, LinkedIn, conferences and in-person meetings.
  • Establish relationships and trust with software business owners and drive daily engagement and nurturing programs.
  • Proactively collaborate across the entire Solen team to drive business outcomes and contribute innovative ideas that support our vision of creating a world class sourcing team.
  • Use Solen’s software tools and resources to continually increase your effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Track activity and maintain clear records in our CRM and report regularly on KPIs.
  • Collaborate with Solen’s M&A teams to validate and qualify opportunities.
  • Participate in conversations with business owners and advisors to evaluate acquisition opportunities.
  • Build and support the growth of the Corporate Development team as required
