Reports to: Senior Director of Ecommerce
Location: Remote - Ontario
About the Role
As our Director of AI Analytics, you will define how data, insight, and AI drive decision-making across Sur La Table. This is a company-wide mandate — embedded within eCommerce but serving every function from Marketing and Finance to Retail, Merchandising, Inventory Planning, and Operations. You will own the analytical standard: establishing governance, resolving cross-functional metric misalignment, and transforming raw data into clear recommendations that move senior leaders to action.
At six months, success looks like a trusted, governed KPI framework in place, AI-assisted workflows operating at scale, and functional leaders consistently acting on your insight rather than waiting for reports. At twelve months, you will have built the foundation for a modern analytics culture and begun developing the junior talent around you.
This is a lean team. You will own a lot, move fast, and make decisions with full end-to-end responsibility.
the Role Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Analytics, Strategy, or Data Leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading analytics across multiple business functions.
- Strong experience in commerce-driven businesses (retail, eCommerce, CPG, or marketplace).
- Comprehensive knowledge of all traffic acquisition channels and their downstream impact on site behavior, with the ability to develop reliable forecasts that drive strategic decision-making.
- Advanced SQL and strong analytical modeling capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience designing and governing AI-enabled analytics workflows.
- Strong capability to pressure-test AI-generated insights against source data, customer behavior, and commercial logic.
- Hands-on expertise with Heap or similar event-based web analytics platforms.
- Comfort working with structured data formats (e.g., JSON), event schemas, and data instrumentation.
- Experience defining KPI frameworks and resolving cross-functional metric misalignment.
- Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling stories that inform and influence executive decisionmaking.
- Track record of proactive insight generation, not reactive reporting.
- Availability to work standard Eastern Time business hours.
