How You Will Contribute:
 

Ciena is recognized as a leading supplier of state-of-the-art coherent optical modem technology, and a key part of this technology lies in our custom DSP (digital signal processing). Join the Modem Signal Processing Team and specialize in the design, modeling and testing of current and next generation high speed optical systems.

  • Define and implement DSP features for large, high-speed ASICs in current and next generation modems.

  • Evaluate and optimize design alternatives with respect to relevant performance metrics.

  • Document your DSP feature design and provide detailed explanations and justifications for design trade-offs.

  • Contributing to product development by producing clear, accurate, well-documented code.

  • Development of algorithms, measurement procedures, calibration procedures, and performance metrics.

  • Independently plan and schedule work.

  • Code functions in Matlab/C++/C/SystemC/CatapultC according to generally accepted coding standards.

  • Write C++ testbenches using googletest framework.

  • Run simulations, verify functions, and document results.

  • Automate system simulations including documentation and archiving of results.

  • Test and verify algorithms in the lab.

  • Use standard lab equipment; write test automation- and lab equipment interface functions.

  • Interface and collaborate with ASIC, firmware, hardware, electro-optic, systems and lab teams.

  • Provide feedback & suggestions on existing designs; contribute ideas to improve design procedures.

  • Key DSP technology to enable state-of-the-art coherent optical modem development at 1.6 Tb/s and beyond.

The Must Haves:

  • PhD or Masters in Math, Physics, or Engineering with focus on DSP, communications, or control theory.

  • Must have Matlab and C++ experience
     

Assets:

  • C, SystemC, CatapultC, Verilog, HTML experience would be an asset.
     

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position is $82,400 - $131,600 CAD.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
