About the Role

As Digital Editor, you will be the primary driver of CSNC’s digital strategy, producing and amplifying authoritative content across the website, e-newsletters, and social media. You will balance a fast-paced daily news cycle with long-form feature writing, ensuring all content is optimized for maximum reach and engagement. Beyond writing and editing, this proactive role requires managing industry relationships and leveraging networking to generate fresh, insightful story ideas.


Key Responsibilities


Digital Strategy & Amplification

  • Audience Engagement: Drive brand awareness through consistent daily social media management and posting.
  • Performance Analytics: Track KPIs and analyze website and newsletter metrics to provide regular performance updates to leadership.
  • Optimization: Apply SEO best practices and leverage emerging marketing tools to maximize content discoverability and reach.

Relationship Building & Collaboration

  • Industry Networking: Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, columnists, and sources to secure exclusive insights.
  • Cross-Functional Teamwork: Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Art departments to align content with broader business goals.

Editorial Operations

  • Workflow Management: Oversee the digital editorial calendar and coordinate the layout of multimedia assets (video, graphics, images).
  • Integrity & Compliance: Proofread all materials for accuracy while ensuring adherence to copyright, privacy, and company policies.

Events & Awards

  • Field Coverage: Attend and report on industry events across Canada and the U.S., including The Convenience U CARWACS Show.
  • Awards Oversight: Support the execution of signature programs such as Star Women in Convenience and the Impact Awards.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, supplemented by 5+ years of editorial experience (B2B preferred).
  • Editorial Excellence: Exceptional writing, editing, and copywriting skills with a deep command of CP style and a robust portfolio of published work.
  • Digital Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of SEO best practices, Google Analytics, and marketing tools to drive content discoverability.
  • Technical Stack: Hands-on experience with CMS platforms (e.g., Drupal), social media scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite), and basic photo editing (e.g., Photoshop).
  • Strategic Mindset: A strong pulse on digital technology and social media trends, paired with the ability to translate insights into creative content strategies.
  • Professionalism: Superior organizational and time-management skills, with the interpersonal savvy to manage industry relationships and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Detail Oriented: A sharp eye for accuracy and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a deadline-driven environment.

Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 CAD + benefits per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role, skills, experience, education and location.
