Job Description
The Digital & Social Specialist is responsible for overseeing The Kit’s social platforms, including conceptualizing and creating posts and videos. They are also responsible for the workflow management of the newsletter and building optimized digital posts in the CMS. Reporting into The Kit’s operations director, with a dotted line to editorial, they are responsible for:
DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGY:
- Revamping and revising the social strategy for The Kit in conjunction with the wider team;
- Building content calendars and posting schedules shared cross-functionally based on optimal posting times;
- Liaising with the art team on assets required for specific builds;
- Scheduling Collab posts and determining guardrails for strong performance;
- Launching new platforms based on market needs;
- Watching and navigating trends, building agile concepts and themes for social-first initiatives.
FILMING & EDITING:
- Shooting social content for video-centric approach;
- Attending events, openings, partnerships and photoshoots, building content strategy to serve cross-functional needs;
- Posting videos in timely manner to ensure on the pulse of trends.
OPTIMIZATION AND MANAGEMENT:
- Uploading articles onto thekit.ca, including adding SHOP NOW buttons, affiliate links, internal referrals, etc.;
- SEO article optimization, leveraging trending keywords, etc.;
- Auditing and updating evergreen articles for link replacement, new imagery, etc.;
- Managing deployment timings and liaising with the Collab team for pacing concerns;
- Understanding website health analytics, including CWV, ad viewability, etc.
DEPLOYMENT:
- Building and developing The Kit Daily newsletter in WhatCounts;
- Writing subject lines for optimal open rates and headlines for CTRs;
- Managing “shopping spotlight” features in conjunction with the Collab team;
- Understanding trending newsletter market needs for product adjustment;
- Setting eblast timing for optimal collab traction that also supports reader needs.
Qualifications
All candidates must be passionate about lifestyle media. He/she/they must believe in a digital-first philosophy, equally balancing creativity and analytics. They must be agile, punctual, diligent and thoughtful—ready for quick thinking, quick learning and quick action. A positive attitude is a must, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Qualifications include:
- Intern, coordinator or assistant editor experience in media or at an agency;
- Brand experience in social media creation and management on Pinterest, YouTube, TikTok, Meta;
- Proven digital experience and managing a website;
- Intermediate knowledge of the Adobe Suite;
- Intermediate knowledge of WordPress;
- Knowledge of WhatCounts is a plus.
