DevOps Engineer

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Duration: Fulltime

Job Description: Loginsoft Canada Private Ltd. is seeking a DevOps Engineer to assist in containerizing our Production Deployment System. This role requires an in-depth understanding of Docker, TeamCity (or similar CI systems), PHP, popular GNU/Linux distributions, and real-world experience in containerizing production deployment environments. The DevOps Engineer will play a crucial role in driving Scientia Mobile’s vision forward, developing methods to improve deployment operations globally, and advising the development team. You will leverage groundbreaking technologies to overcome challenges and manage our environment using new best practices.

As a key position in the team, you will be at the forefront of modernizing our infrastructure, ensuring system scalability, and improving our continuous deployment processes. You’ll work closely with the development and operations teams, helping define and maintain the processes that ensure our applications are highly available and efficient. Experience with configuration management systems like Ansible is critical as you'll be championing internal workflows, enhancing automation, and improving overall productivity.

Job Details:

  1. Location: Toronto, Ontario
  2. Compensation: $140000.00 per year
  3. Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm EST
  4. Vacation / Holidays: 10 days of Paid Vacation each calendar year

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide support across departments towards internal/external customers
  • Participate in an on call rotation
  • Maintain, improve and document the continuous deployment processes with Docker
  • Manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters (EKS or other), ensuring seamless orchestration of containerized applications
  • Continue evolving operational and configuration procedures, incorporating new practices and tools like Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native technologies
  • Maintain, improve and document the configuration management system (Ansible, AWX)
  • Serve as the company-wide expert that bridges the gap between developers and IT/operations staff
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Research and recommend innovative approaches to automate system administration tasks
  • Expand operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Document methods and innovations for development team to adopt best practices
  • Implement performance tuning and resource optimization as required
  • Mentor and guide teammates with best practices of DevOps

Must have:

  • Experience with HashiCorp tools such as Terraform, Packer, and Vault for infrastructure provisioning, secrets management, and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems like TeamCity, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions to implement and maintain deployment pipelines, improve development workflows, and automate builds and tests.
  • Over 3 years experience with Docker in web application deployment systems, designing and managing containerized environments for production deployments.
  • At least 3 years of experience in GNU/Linux systems administration, with expertise in Ubuntu Server for system setup, configuration, and optimization.
  • Over 2 years of experience managing and provisioning configuration management systems like Ansible (or similar) for automating system configurations.
  • Experience with high-performance web application technologies like Memcached, Redis, NGINX, and Varnish to ensure scalable and efficient application delivery.
  • Experience with AWS DevOps tools like EC2, IAM, S3, Route 53, CloudFront, ELB, VPC, AWS Organizations, VPC Peering, Transit Gateway, AWS Global Acceleratorand Auto Scaling Groups to provision and manage cloud infrastructure resources.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes (EKS) for orchestrating containerized applications, ensuring fault tolerance, and improving the scalability of deployment environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices and managing access using IAM, VPC, and Security Groupsto ensure a secure production environment.

Educational Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent experience.
