About you
You are a development operations sorcerer. You believe in increasing the development productivity and quality through automation of common practices as this ensures their consistent and thorough application. You prefer to “document” and maintain scripts, code, and configuration over describing how-tos that people need to follow exactly

You want to go beyond writing code for the public and write code for those who write *that* code. Based on your own experience you have many ideas and an open mind to listen and discover development challenges that you can solve, if only you could focus on these things.

What You'll Do
You’ll be responsible for a variety of development-related automation tasks that involve system administration, integration, and automation with coding / scripting as it pertains to those systems, such as:

• Introduction and deployment of the latest AI tools (LLMs and agents)
• Engineering tools (e.g. process and work tracking)
• Development environment (all tools used by developers to produce the product code)
• CI/CD infrastructure
• Testing infrastructure (various environments and stages)
• Evolving test automation tools and frameworks used by developers to write and plug their tests in
• Be on the lookout for how this list can change to our benefit

To do this you will code/script in at least a few programming or scripting languages relevant to the systems in use and/or automating them:

• Shell scripting languages (sh, bash, …)
• General purpose languages in use for automation, such as Python, (Bazel) Starlark, JavaScript, TypeScript, etc.

You will communicate, share knowledge and ideas with:

• Peers, to share thoughts, mentor, or be mentored
• QA Engineers about test automation
• Developers / Engineers about the use, application, needs, and evolution of the systems they are responsible for

Requirements

• Strong computer science fundamentals based on a degree in computer science or distinctive work experience in software development
• Strong familiarity with Git
• Build, CI/CD automation track record in a cloud environment
• Shell scripting prowess in a Linux environment
• Development track record in at least one of the following languages: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C and/or C++
• Test automation track record (infrastructure, unit tests, integration test, system test, …)
• You can develop foundational tools to be used across the entire company
• You are comfortable interacting with senior management and project stakeholders, as well as other development teams
• A demonstrated ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support
• Exceptional attention to detail and focus on quality
• You possess strong communication skills and can capture requirements, as well as share your designs and progress

About our office and remote work
We are located in downtown Toronto with nearby access to both of the main subway lines. Currently, we are all working from home; we encourage our teams to work from wherever they are most productive, and many of us will continue to work from home in the future, either full-time or partially. While we're all working remotely, we’ve come up with a few ways to keep everyone on the same page, including a quick company-wide check-in every Monday, remote coffee breaks on Fridays, and ad hoc topical sharing sessions.
