The Development Advisory team is a full-service real estate platform that has offices in Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary. Its pipeline of projects has a construction value exceeding $12 billion, and includes high-rise urban mixed-use towers, affordable housing communities, large-scale industrial warehouses, urban and suburban office buildings, and large-scale commercial land plays. About the role:

Are you an aspiring development associate seeking to grow your knowledge and expertise? Do you want exposure to a variety of clients and development types?

We’re seeking an Associate, Development Advisory, who will support the Development Advisory East Team (including SVPs, VPs and Directors) on project related requirements. This includes providing planning context research, contributing to project team procurements and coordination, and taking an active role in development project design, approvals, and delivering construction projects. The Associate contributes materially to ensuring the entire Development Team is up to date with provincial and municipal policy changes, provides analytical and management support, assists with the preparation and issuance of important documents such as minutes, agendas, and status reports, and ensures project files are complete and organized.

  • Provide ongoing support related to the successful completion of projects, from project feasibility through to project close out.

  • Help generate project plans, schedules, and budgets for all assigned real estate projects and contribute to developing strong client relationships.

  • Manage project deliverables to meet critical dates and quality requirements.

  • Contribute efforts to project reports, assist in the preparation of client correspondence, site inspection reports and PowerPoint presentations.

  • Coordinate the procurements of design consultants in accordance with an approved pro forma and approved pre-development budget.

  • Help track development schedules including critical project milestones dates.

  • Support the analyst team and accounting team in producing the overall development pro-forma through the development process by collecting assumptions as directed.

  • Contribute to project related reporting, submissions, and daily tasks.

  • Maintain meeting minutes, actions, task lists, and agendas for all internal/external meetings with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.

  • Assist the Development Manager with review and provide feedback to the architects and other design consultants through project design bearing in mind: construction costs, layouts, client objectives, market trends and the target market for each specific project.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Business or Urban Land Economics.

  • 1-3 years of Development experience in a similar role.

  • Proficiency with MS Project and Outlook, with a strong proficiency with Excel.

  • Exceptional analytical skills with a strong ability to think through a range of possibilities and scenarios.

  • Knowledge of regulatory and Planning processes and policies, Provincial Planning Act, current development processes and trends.

  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and listening skills.
