About the role:
Morningstar DBRS' Editorial and Publishing team is looking for an exceptionally Designer who is deeply passionate about the craft of design in support of our analytical teams. In this role, you will lead design activities and produce design collateral across a wide variety of media including report design, online assets, and presentations (both internally and externally for conferences and webinars).

This position is based out of our Toronto office. We follow a hybrid policy of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote work.
Responsibilities:
- Design a wide variety of digital-based content, including print experiences, data visualizations, presentations, web assets, interactive experiences.
- Proactively engage in a collaborative design process from discovery, definition, and development to deliver engaging analytical solutions.
- Demonstrate core design skills-especially concerning typography, composition, information hierarchy, and data visualization-to create delightful, engaging experiences that reinforce the Morningstar brand.
- Solve challenging information and communication design problems and be able to present multiple concepts for consideration, with sound rationale.
- Collaborate on competitive assessments and gather all necessary inputs to inform a strategy or vision.
- Present and defend design solutions to cross-functional teams, be open to feedback and know how and when to defend design choices.
- Incorporate Morningstar design systems, brand standards, and experiences while educating both stakeholders and engineers.
- Connect and communicate with other design teams within Morningstar.
Qualifications:
- You have a strong background with experience creating a range of editorial designs, long-document reports, and presentations.
- Experience working inside of the financial services industry is a plus.
- Collaborative experience leading projects that consider innovation and usability; someone who listens and anticipates the needs, concerns, and input from multiple teams.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in digital/visual design, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in design and research, specifically within the editorial and publishing domain.
- Have an enthusiastic and engaging presentation style and visual communication skills.
- Demonstrated design skills, especially concerning information hierarchy, typography, and data visualization.
- Ability to present design solutions to project teams and other stakeholders.
- Advanced experience with design tools inside of the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Advanced experience with Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
- Ability to be flexible and handle multiple projects and re-prioritizations.
- Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills; self-directed, comfortable working independently, and able to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
- A deep curiosity and desire to learn new technologies and methods and build great products.
