The Designer works closely with other designers, marketing coordinators, specialists, associates, agencies and multiple stakeholders to concept, develop, design and build creative layouts in a fast-paced agency-like environment.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Digital and Marketing Design, the Designer role develops and maintains product designs for CDW digital experiences and is responsible for the design and production of CDW marketing campaigns across mass media marketing, websites, events, and presentations. This role helps translate customer needs to effective design solutions while communicating the CDW brand.
What you'll do:
Design:
- Serve as a creative layer in campaign executions, creative strategy and ideation
- Well versed with interaction design, motion design, and graphic design and creates related deliverables (sketches, comps, wireframes, final deliverables etc.)
- Translate brand, marketing and business strategies and requirements into effective cohesive design solutions utilizing a user-centered approach.
- Understands how to research, review and extract data analytics to make data driven design decisions.
- Collaborate cross functionally on projects.
- Works closely and effectively with other designers, managers, Marketing and Product Management; knows when to seek help
- Receives, weighs, and integrates constructive feedback from other design members and managers
- Able to schedule and prioritize work individually and with guidance from managers
- Proactively identifies and solves problems, improves personal skills, and assists and mentors associate designers
- Design web page layout and online content, user interface graphics, icons, leverages colour schemes for new and recurring web projects.
- Help define user interaction models for new and existing products.
- Create web, marketing and seller enablement material that align to accessibility standards
- Sketch and present UI concepts, including visual design and behaviours with paper sketches, wireframes, task/workflows, simple working prototypes, or whatever form best communicates your ideas.
- Participate in user-centered research with customers through focus groups, usage analysis, and rapid prototyping.
- Perform development and maintenance updates and programming for web pages and web applications.
- Develop, research and creates layouts for new sections/features.
- Create multiple, time sensitive design projects on a daily basis including product catalogs, magazine ads, sell-sheets, collateral, and brochures in both print and digital formats.
- Create and adhere to all templates and file requirements while maintaining department standards for pre-press preparation, organization and accuracy.
- Lead numerous rounds of revisions for assigned projects.
- Prepare files for a smooth transmission to printer.
- Maintains consistency and overall production quality on multiple CDW branded creative projects.
- Determines layout and produces collateral that reflects CDW's brand and segment strategy.
- Ensures consistency of graphic style across all given projects.
- Meets production standards and schedules for assigned projects.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in human computer interaction, user experience, visual arts, graphic design or related field or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- 3 years of related design experience.
- Proficient in Adobe creative desktop apps.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to creatively problem solve.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum direction.
- Demonstrated experience with designing user experiences across various design modalities
- Familiar with interaction design and information architecture methods and principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to effectively interact with all stakeholders including senior leadership.
- Ability to work effectively with and support the needs of a team
- Proven track record of balancing multiple priorities simultaneously and negotiating work flow, while meeting deadlines.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior experience working in technology industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pre-press techniques.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Previous experience with digital platforms
- Previous experience working in a PC environment.
- Experience with Responsive design
- Familiarity in CSS, Interface and Web Application Development.
- Familiarity with User Research Techniques

Each of our roles is assigned a salary range that is informed by multiple sources of market data. We determine individual pay within a given range based on a candidate's prior experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. This approach allows us to offer competitive and equitable salaries that reflect the value and responsibilities of each role at CDW. Salaries are based on a 40-hour workweek, and paid on a bi-weekly payroll schedule.
Pay range: $ 63,000- $ 73,000, depending on experience and skill set
