Job Description

Egis is seeking an experienced Decarbonization and Energy Manager to join our team. This role will play a significant part in a major infrastructure project where achieving greenhouse gas reduction and decarbonization goals is paramount. We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader who can manage multiple projects simultaneously, make confident decisions under pressure, and provide clear direction to design teams. The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers, designers, and stakeholders through complex, multi-disciplinary projects while working closely with senior leadership to define program objectives and drive technical strategy.

Beyond this immediate critical project, this role will shape Egis Canada's long-term capabilities by developing our Energy Team to deliver energy modeling, decarbonization feasibility studies, and energy planning services.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a significant technical program today while building the foundation for the future of energy consulting at Egis.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Immediate (Major Infrastructure Project):

    • Lead and manage the multi-disciplinary design team, working collaboratively with consultants, contractors, and clients to achieve project GHG and decarbonization objectives
    • Oversee design through all project phases including pre-construction, planning, detailed design, site development, permitting, procurement, construction, and closeout
    • Manage the design team to meet contractual requirements for technical specifications, schedule, and cost
    • Conduct internal quality reviews and coordinate drawings to ensure adherence to program scope and requirements
    • Represent the design team in design reviews and coordinate input and feedback from all stakeholders
    • Provide management and executive-level progress and performance reports
  • Long-term (Strategic Development):

    • Develop and lead Egis Canada's Energy Team to provide comprehensive energy modeling, decarbonization feasibility, and energy auditing services
    • Collaborate closely with MEP engineers on projects to provide technical insight and strategic guidance

Qualifications

  • Required:

    • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in an engineering or design management position with a focus on GHG/net zero initiatives
    • Proven experience in team management and leading design teams
    • Track record of leading new initiatives and presenting to high-level stakeholders
    • Hands-on experience conducting at least one of the following: energy auditing, decarbonization feasibility studies, or energy modeling
    • Demonstrable experience performing design reviews and facilitating design coordination activities
    • Strong working knowledge of project development including scope finalization, cost estimating, scheduling, and risk assessments
    • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to facilitate meetings and workshops with large stakeholder groups
    • Proven ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships and provide strategic-level reporting to enable effective decision-making
    • Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with P.Eng. designation
    • G class driver’s license and access to own vehicle on a daily basis 
  • Considered an Asset:

    • Experience with commissioning mechanical or electrical systems
    • CEA, CEM (Certified Energy Manager), CMVP, BEMP, LEED AP, or Passive House certification
