Deal Desk Senior Commercial Consultant (French and English speaker)

The Deal Desk team at Thomson Reuters serves as strategic advisors and partners to our Go-To-Market teams, facilitating deal structures and requests that align with our strategy. This role drives scale within the Go-To-Market functions, allowing Sales to focus on selling while creating efficiencies, profitability, and effective governance.

As a Deal Desk Commercial Consultant, you will be an expert in our policies, processes, and systems. You will work closely with Sales and cross-functional teams to efficiently navigate our sales processes and policies. Your responsibilities will include reviewing, approving, and managing non-standard requests related to pricing, order forms, terms and conditions, commercial policies, and administrative tasks in support of software sales.

Drawing on your experience in contract management or a similar field, you will serve as the first point of contact for questions related to non-standard deal terms, making sure all transactions follow company policies and risk guidelines. You will work closely with Sales, Finance, and other teams to streamline deal processes and help drive business growth.

About the Role 

In this opportunity as a Deal Desk Senior Commercial Consultant, you will: 

  • Act as the primary trusted advisor for Sales and Business Segment teams, providing solutions to complex commercial challenges and guiding deal strategy throughout the transaction process. Oversee and coordinate deal execution through established internal procedures and systems.
  • Demonstrate expertise in advanced Deal Desk functions, particularly in structuring complex or strategic transactions.
  • Review, approve, or escalate non-standard pricing and commercial requests, ensuring alignment with company policies.
  • Analyze and process non-standard order forms, amendments, and administrative requests from Sales and Customer Success teams.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for inquiries related to non-standard terms and conditions, offering expert guidance and support.
  • Collaborate closely with the General Counsel’s Office to evaluate risks and propose solutions for contract deviations.
  • Ensure that all deal documentation is thorough, accurate, and fully compliant with internal controls.
  • Maintain current records within contract management systems, tracking approvals and documenting exceptions as needed.
  • Support the enhancement and ongoing development of Deal Desk processes, templates, and playbooks.
  • Deliver training and enablement sessions for Sales and Customer Success teams on Deal Desk protocols and contract best practices.
  • Champion comprehensive oversight across OTC processes by serving as a key authority on cross-functional team dynamics, facilitating prompt issue resolution and fostering effective collaboration.
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects and reporting requirements as necessary.

About You 

You're a fit for the role of Deal Desk Senior Commercial Consultant if your background includes: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; both in English and French.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in contract management, Deal Desk, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of contract terms, legal concepts, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with contract management tools, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications & Attributes:

  • Experience managing the full sales cycle, customer contracts, and complex projects
  • Knowledge of SaaS, content products, sales, and contracting processes
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to work across regions and cultures with limited in-person interaction
  • Quick learner, adaptable, and effective in dynamic environments
  • Skilled at working independently or within complex matrix teams
  • Strong business acumen, organizational and time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to improve existing processes and working practices
  • Results-driven, focused on meeting OKRs
  • Comfortable and effective in fast-paced, high-pressure settings
  • Proficient in Google and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Salesforce, Order Capture, SAP, and Oracle
  • Able to handle high transaction volumes accurately and with integrity

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. For Ontario, Canada, the base compensation range for this role is $79,000 CAD - $129,000 CAD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
