Why Pythian:
At Pythian, we are experts in strategic database and analytics services, driving digital transformation and operational excellence. Pythian, a multinational company, was founded in 1997 and started by ensuring the reliability and performance of mission-critical databases. We quickly earned a reputation for solving tough data challenges. We were there when the industry moved from on-premises to cloud environments, and as enterprises sought more from their data, we expanded our competencies to include advanced analytics.

Today, we empower organizations to embrace transformation and leverage advanced technologies, including AI, to stay competitive. We deliver innovative solutions that meet each client’s data goals and have built strong partnerships with Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, and Snowflake. The powerful combination of our extensive expertise in data and cloud and our ability to keep on top of the latest bleeding edge technologies make us the perfect partner to help mid and large-sized businesses transform to stay ahead in today’s rapidly changing digital economy.

Why you?
As a Pythian Data Scientist, you will be responsible for leveraging your expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling to deliver insights and build predictive models. You will work on both internal IP development and client projects, applying a variety of techniques to solve complex business problems. Additionally, you will use and fine-tune pre-trained models, such as Large Language Models (LLMs), to accelerate development and enhance model performance.

What will you be doing?

  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from various sources to extract meaningful insights.
  • Develop and implement machine learning models, including both supervised and unsupervised techniques.
  • Fine-tune and adapt pre-trained models (e.g., LLMs) for specific use cases and client projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and domain experts, to develop data-driven solutions.
  • Build predictive models and algorithms that address complex business challenges.
  • Communicate results and insights effectively to stakeholders through data visualizations and reports.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in data science, machine learning, and AI, with a focus on the practical application of pre-trained models and cutting-edge technologies.
  • Develop and maintain internal IP around advanced analytics, model development, and AI-driven tools.

What do we need from you?

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. Ph.D. is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R and experience with data science libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Hands-on experience with pre-trained models such as Large Language Models (LLMs) or other deep learning frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques.
  • Experience working with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data findings into actionable business insights.
  • Experience with client-facing projects or in a consulting environment is a plus.

What do you get in return?

  • Love your career: Competitive total rewards package with an annual bonus
  • Love your development: Hone your skills or learn new ones with our substantial training allowance; participate in professional development days, attend conferences, become certified, whatever you like!
  • Love your work/life balance: Why commute? Work remotely from your home (forever), there’s no daily travel requirement to an office! You can be located anywhere in the US or Canada, all you need is a stable internet connection.
  • Love your workspace: We give you all the equipment you need to work from home including a laptop with your choice of OS, and an annual budget to personalise your work environment!
  • Love your community: Blog during work hours; take a day off and volunteer for your favorite charity.
