About the Team and the Role
We are looking to hire an analytics & insights Data Scientist to partner with the eBay Search product team and focus on optimizing Search experience at eBay. This role will have the outstanding opportunity to influence decision making of Search roadmap with their insights and thought leadership.
With a vision to find opportunities to drive ground-breaking change in the customer experience and result in significant business growth, we mine the largest datasets in the world of e-Commerce and use best in class analytic and big data techniques to extract impactful insights. We achieve this by partnering closely with the product and engineering teams, and resolve opportunities that are accretive to the product roadmaps.
Conduct, analyze, and deep dive into A/B tests and provide actionable recommendations on improving the search features.
Perform statistical analysis and modelling of customer’s behavioral data to find opportunities to build new search features solving for key pain-points in search user journey
Identify new growth opportunities and provide actionable recommendations by leveraging insights across behavioral data, customer research and data science.
Decode and validate web tracking to analyze user behaviors around new features.
Develop metrics to measure product success and guide product roadmap.
Drive self-serve for commonly used metrics by building dashboards and onboarding metrics to experimentation platform.
Perform in-depth analyses with GenAI, LLM tools when required
Master’s degree in Statistics, Applied Econometrics, Math, Physics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering or other related core sciences or equivalent AND 4+ years relevant professional experience.
Proficiency with analytical tools and languages like SQL, R, Python, Tableau, and experience in transforming big data into insights using platforms such as Hadoop.
Ability to synthesize complex findings and communicate clear, actionable recommendations to diverse audiences.
Collaborative mindset, with excellent communication skills and proven experience building momentum behind data-driven proposals.
Flexibility to work effectively in remote, distributed teams spanning multiple time zones.
Previous experience in eCommerce Search products leveraging descriptive and inferential statistics would be a significant bonus.
