Summary:
The Data Governance Manager is responsible for executing policies, processes and monitoring of practices to ensure increased value from governing critical Cox Automotive data. This includes ensuring data is commonly understood, easy to find, access, and trace, that it meets quality needs, is appropriately shared across Cox Automotive, and is managed with contractual and competitive risks in mind. They will focus on executing plans to balance regulatory requirements, data risk, and data driven decision-making for Cox Automotive. They will coordinate with legal, data strategy, security, operations, and product/engineering teams to develop governance initiatives, policies, and procedures. They will support adoption of new processes and technology, while minimizing change and impact via training, communication, and change management.
What You'll Do:
Responsibilities :
- Operate and monitor data governance processes and procedures for all areas of Cox Automotive
- Execute on tactical data governance initiatives that are on the roadmap, acting as a central subject matter expert that partners with team members that are federated throughout Cox Automotive
- Monitor data governance risk across the organization and ensure corrective actions are taken
- Roll out global data policies related to data quality, lineage, classification, retention, and required metadata on critical data domains for improved data posture at Cox Automotive
- Partner with Data Strategy and Legal teams to collect, store, research, and summarize data contracts to identify permissible use of data in Cox Automotive ecosystem
- Catalog critical source data at Cox Automotive with metadata that allows insights into how data is created, obtained, used, and shared
- Classify, label, and tag priority data to produce transparent inventory of where data is and how it is used
- Partner with teams to trace data lineage internally and externally
- Provide data domain ownership assistance, creating templates, policies, and expectations for owners
- Monitor data policies for adherence
- Prepare and lead governance council subgroups to recommend policies, decisions, and execution plans
- Execute on definitions, design models, policy creation and metadata collection in technical tools
- Use tools like domain maps, data models, heat maps, data flows, business glossaries, and data dictionaries to help illustrate how data is created, obtained, used, and shared internally and externally
- Lead change management and training endeavors to ensure success of governance policies
- Grow and maintain a communications platform for disseminating information to the enterprise
- Settle disputes between parties effectively and for the best of Cox Automotive; be autonomous and make decisions without oversight when appropriate
Who You Are:
- BA or BS Degree required (i.e., Business, IT, Finance)
- 6+ years of experience in related field (i.e., data and analytics, governance, project management, change management, IT)
- Minimum 2 years of experience working on cross-functional, high-performing teams
- Highly quantitative and data-oriented with the ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions, as well the ability to make decisions with ambiguous or incomplete data
- Demonstrated ability to be a highly functioning team member and work on initiatives that require cross-functional teams
- Excellent interpersonal, organization, and project management skills
- Desire to learn about all parts of the Cox Automotive business to better understand the data and related processes
- Experience in written and oral presentations
- Experience in change management, including eliciting information and requirements, facilitating meetings and discussions to reach decisions, creating reference and training materials, and presenting to groups.
- Creative thinker with an open mind to learn and explore new areas and opportunities, and to develop and recommend opportunities and solutions
- Strong ability to give clear and consistent instructions to team members, and to lead, motivate and supervise project and/or working teams
- Preferred experience in Data Governance, Data Privacy, Data Management, Data Architecture, Data Discovery, Metadata Management, and Data Lineage
- Preferred experience in the automotive space
- Up to 10% time travel requirement
- Must live within a commutable distance to the office
USD 108,800.00 - 181,400.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $108,800.00 - $181,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
