What we're looking for:

We’re expanding our Product Engineering team and are looking for our first ever Data Engineer to join us! As the first Data Engineer at Phoenix Digital Health, you’ll be able to shape what our data looks like. You’ll get to work closely with our cofounders and cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support personalized digital care. Our ideal Data Engineer has a healthy combination of strong technical skills but also understands the nuances of handling sensitive health-related data. At Phoenix Digital Health, you won’t just move data—you’ll shape the future of digital health for Canadians.

What you’ll do:
  • Build and optimize scalable, reliable data pipelines and architectures from multiple sources including PostgreSQL database, our BI layer in Lightdash, ad performance data from Supermetrics, and other internal metrics.

  • Create clean, modular data models that serve analytics, product insights, and machine learning use cases.

  • Partner with engineers, clinicians, analysts, and product managers to make sure our data infrastructure supports real-world health outcomes.

  • Ensure our systems are secure and designed with the highest standards of data integrity.

  • Mentor others, advocate for modern tooling and best practices, and help scale a culture of data excellence.

What you’ll bring:
  • 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.

  • An analytical business mindset with a deep understanding of how to export and structure data for self-serve analytics, reporting, and experimentation.

  • Proven experience designing data models and ETL/ELT pipelines at scale.

  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with tools like DBT for transformation, Apache Airflow for automating distribution, and Looker Tableau (or similar BI tools) for analytics.

  • A solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS).

  • Nice to have:

    • Familiarity with modern data workflows and BI tools such as Lightdash.

    • Experience in healthcare, telehealth, or digital health.

Why work at Phoenix?
  • Impact & autonomy. You’ll work directly with passionate, experienced leaders who understand the ups-and-downs of the business and you'll have a real opportunity to shape the future at Phoenix

  • Rewarding Mission. We're delivering the best healthcare experience to Canadians across the country

  • Collaborative Culture. We are a growing elite team in Downtown Toronto. We love the tight feedback loop of working together in the office. If you've missed that in-person office experience, and love sharing strongly held opinions of the best lunch spot nearby, this is the role for you
