What You'll Bring:

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or Technology related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with networking and hardware.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Practical knowledge and work experience with Structured Cabling and the layer 1 infrastructure.
  • Must have a disciplined approach to managing task assignments.
  • In-depth Knowledge of Data Center best practices. 
  •  Proficiency with Network administration tasks in a Cisco and Palo Alto Environment.
  • Team Player and personable with the ability to work autonomously and responsibly in a mission- critical Data Center environment. 
  •  Industry certifications (Cisco, Palo Alto, F5).
  • Position is Monday to Friday 9:00AM – 5:00PM EST, in-person, at the TransUnion Burlington office.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule as needed, including nights, weekends, holidays and on-call schedule.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have a full G driver's license and ability to travel between Data center locations in Burlington and Cambridge. 

Impact You'll Make:

TransUnion Canada has an immediate need for an Infrastructure Data Center / Network Engineer to join their team working for the Information Technology business unit. This position is on-site at the 3115 Harvester Road Location in Burlington Ontario.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Installation: Installation of all IT servers, network hardware and related components to manufacturer specification.
  •  Space assignment: Provision exact space assignments and maintain documentation for each IT device and all related components ensuring proper operation and appropriate expansion space.
  • Power assignment: Provision exact power assignments and maintain documentation for all rack mounted and floor mounted devices maintaining appropriate power distribution and utilization.
  • Cabinet Layout: Assign space, power, tile cuts and cable raceways for all new rows of server cabinets, floor mounted devices, storage frames, tape drives etc. 
  • Cable plant design: Work with hardware owners to understand project requirements and select, document and order appropriate solutions to meet connectivity and density needs.
  •  Asset management: Ensure all equipment within the Data Centre is properly documented within the local Asset management software (Nlyte). 
  • Ticket Management: Respond to and action assigned tickets within Ticketing system (Remedy). 
  • Daily operation and oversight: Manage relationships with facility support and IT manufacturer service providers to ensure appropriate daily operation and accurate installations.
  •  Assist Infrastructure team with day to day system administration and support. 
  • Onsite Support: Respond to incidents and work with other teams in the verification and recovery process of IT systems.
  • Network Administration: Administration of switches, routers, firewalls, Load balancers, WAF.
  •  The incumbent will be the primary liaison for vendor and costumer requests within the data center. 

This job is assigned as On-Site Essential and requires in- person work at an assigned TU office location as a condition of employment.
