Role Summary
The Customization and Sourcing Manager will report to the Vice President of Supply Chain. This role is responsible for leading the sourcing and customization of vaping hardware, providing great support in the product development processes and product cost management.

Role Responsibilities 

Sourcing and Supplier Base Management 

  • Lead onshore customization sourcing initiatives and oversee supplier base management, negotiating pricing, terms, and lead times to optimize cost and performance.
  • Manage and maintain positive supplier relationships, ensuring business is on good standing
  • Develop “Should-Cost” models to understand vape hardware product costs, negotiating with contract manufacturers for the best pricing.
  • Work closely with the Product department, engage early on to align on cost targets and manufacturing capabilities 
  • Present a strong negotiation standing when implementing or renewing any supplier/vendor contracts to optimize business revenue
  • Identify supply chain procurement risks and develop mitigation plans, including dual-sourcing strategies.
  • Provide insight and support in tooling development and management

Product Customization and Project Management

  • Complete e-cig customization project feasibility analysis to identify potential risks and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
  • Align with sales/quality department to review and sign-off the customization boundary samples
  • Drive product customization with manufacturing partners, both OEMs and ODMs
  • Project change management and other duties as assigned

Manager responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day employee management of time, performance, queries, administration, etc
  • Lead onboarding and training of new talent

Requirements

Formal Education or Equivalent 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field 
  • A Masters in the listed fields is considered an asset
  • Project Management Professional Certification is considered an asset

Years of Experience 

  • 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, project management, or hardware product development.

Specialized skills, knowledge, or certifications unique to this role 

  • Solid understanding of electronic hardware ODM/OEM collaboration models, NPI processes, and product lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with Research and Development in a manufacturing setting
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Experience using G-Suite and Netsuite ERP
  • Cannabis industry experience is considered an asset 
  • Experience in working in Supply Chain in China is considered an asset
  • Fluency in English, Mandarin speaking is an asset
