This role offers a unique opportunity to be a pivotal leader within Moderna’s high-growth, cutting-edge biotech environment. As the Country Head, Finance – Canada and Global Resilience FP&A, you will lead finance for both Commercial and Manufacturing in Canada. Additionally, you will serve as a central FP&A leader within Moderna’s Global Resilience program, which spans Canada, the UK, and Australia. Your leadership will drive the financial strategy, ensuring Moderna’s mission to advance mRNA science aligns with both local and global objectives.

You will play a crucial role in leading Moderna’s financial operations in Canada, with a strategic focus on managing governmental relationships and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance and matrixing to the General Manager in Canada, this role involves close collaboration across finance sub-functions, commercial, R&D, and manufacturing teams to align Moderna’s Canadian operations with global strategy.

Here's What You’ll Do:

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and oversee finance processes in Canada, managing planning, reporting, and compliance.

  • Collaborate across commercial, R&D, manufacturing, and finance leadership to integrate financial strategies.

  • Engage with government entities to ensure regulatory compliance and manage contractual needs.

  • Lead financial stewardship, focusing on efficiency and compliance, driving financial innovation.

  • Drive annual budgeting and forecasting for the Commercial and Manufacturing teams in Canada.

  • Maintain a long-range financial plan focusing on value drivers and key investments.

  • Analyze financial performance versus plans, providing insights to optimize outcomes.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Identifying financial risks and opportunities in commercial and supply chain operations.

  • Supporting Resilience FP&A functions, ensuring alignment of budgeting and forecasting across sites.

  • Collaborating with the Global Controllership Organization to ensure financial compliance and enhance systems.

  • Managing all aspects of government contract compliance, including complex contract navigation.

  • Implementing and managing Moderna's financial controls framework in Canada.

  • Collaborating with the digital team to enhance finance systems and maintain relationships with local tax authorities.

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table

Basic Qualifications:

  • MBA in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.

  • 11+ years of progressive commercial finance experience, with 7+ years within an international organization in a publicly held Life-Science/Healthcare industry.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading finance functions within complex, high-growth environments, particularly those involving collaboration across commercial and manufacturing operations.

  • Strong financial modeling skills and experience in building integrated financial models for large-scale operations.

  • Experience with SAP and other planning/reporting tools is essential.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to senior management and stakeholders clearly and concisely.

  • Excellent English skills (both written and oral) as Moderna’s business language is in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recognized accountancy qualification (e.g., CPA, ACA) and/or experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm preferred.

  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation, with the ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
