About the role: As the Corporate Development Manager at Solen, you will lead our strategic initiatives in identifying, sourcing, and executing mergers and acquisitions to drive our growth in the B2B SaaS sector. You will oversee a team dedicated to engaging with the founders of promising bootstrapped software businesses, enhancing our deal pipeline through innovative outreach and relationship-building. This role demands a robust communicator with a proactive mindset who is passionate about identifying quality acquisition opportunities and fostering partnerships that align with Solen’s vision for expansion.

The successful candidate will work from Solen's office in Toronto / hybrid.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Develop and execute the corporate development strategy, tailored to the growth objectives of Solen.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of Corporate Development Analysts, fostering an environment of high performance and collaboration.

Market Analysis & Opportunity Identification:

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential acquisition targets within the B2B SaaS landscape.
  • Analyze industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions.

Relationship Building:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with founders and key stakeholders of potential acquisition targets.
  • Represent Solen at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to expand our reach and visibility.

Deal Pipeline Development:

  • Guide the team in developing a robust pipeline of acquisition opportunities through outreach and market engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to ensure smooth due diligence and integration processes.

Negotiation & Execution:

  • Lead negotiations for acquisition agreements, ensuring alignment with Solen’s strategic goals and financial objectives.
  • Oversee the execution of transactions from initial discussions through to closing, maintaining strong communication with all parties involved.

Performance Metrics:

  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of M&A initiatives.
  • Regularly report on progress to executive leadership, providing insights and recommendations for future activities.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, or a related field, with a strong focus on M&A in the technology sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully sourcing M&A transactions.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with a keen understanding of the B2B SaaS market.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
