What you’ll be doing

This role supports CIBC’s workplace accommodation and ergonomics program which designs, develops and implements policies, programs and procedures to help lines of business comply with CIBC’s workplace accommodation and ergonomics programs, as well as applicable human rights and other applicable legislation.   

The Consultant, Workplace Accommodation and Ergonomics, is also accountable for providing advice, support and consultation on workplace accommodation and ergonomics matters to support our employees.  The consultant also supports business projects and initiatives to mitigate risk and ensure appropriate awareness of accessibility, workplace accommodation and ergonomics across the organization.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.  You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.  Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.  

How you’ll succeed

  • Manage Multiple Priorities. Provide professional and sound advice and guidance on workplace accommodation and ergonomics matters within established timelines to determine individual needs and help identify reasonable solutions up to the point of undue hardship (as applicable). Monitor mailboxes and respond to email inquiries or requests for consultation on workplace accommodation and ergonomics matters, including referring assessment requests and ordering equipment as required.
  • Administrative Responsibilities. Support in the implementation of reasonable solutions, as well as with any complex and sensitive issues, and escalations, including documenting requests and outcomes using an internal case management system. Ensure the accurate and up-to-date tracking of all requests and orders, and complete follow-ups as necessary.  Support in the review, development, implementation and sustainment of innovative and effective workplace accommodation and ergonomics policies, programs and procedures to ensure alignment with CIBC’s strategy, as well as regulatory, control and legislative requirements. Support administrative aspects of the program (invoicing, equipment inventory management, records management, tracking and reporting etc.).
  • Operations. Help ensure workplace accommodation and ergonomics policies, programs and procedures, as well as related tools, communications, training, and other supporting materials, contribute to operational effectiveness and enable a positive team member experience. Support the Workplace Accommodation and Ergonomics Program Team with the development of risk mitigation strategies as they relate to workplace accommodation and ergonomics. Support the development and implementation of processes for tracking and reporting on workplace accommodation and ergonomics requests. Support the management of vendor relationships, as required.
