What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will join the PBBSIT - Simplii & Investing Technology Application Operations - Direct Investing and Advice (DI&A) team within CIBC’s Infrastructure Operations Department. You will play a critical part in supporting the operations of all DI&A applications, including Enterprise Tier 1 systems. Your responsibilities will include providing advanced investigation and second-level support for client and technical issues, system or website outages, and inquiries from both internal and external application teams. You will prioritize and coordinate with the appropriate CIBC technology groups and external vendors to ensure timely resolution. Additionally, you will be accountable for maintaining the stability and performance of production applications, overseeing day-to-day operational activities, managing escalations, and adapting established procedures to address unique situations. This position requires participation in a 24/7 support rotation and active coordination of recovery efforts when necessary.

How you’ll succeed     

  • Application support - Investigate and identify operational issues and prioritize based on severity, risk and/or strategic business needs. Manage issue logs and Business production support requests. Design and implement solutions to prevent recurrence with the end goal of ensuring clients satisfaction.

  • Problem Solving – Collaborate on Incident, Problem and Change/Release Management to assist with restoring service, identifying and driving permanent corrective measures and safely & effectively managing change. In order to do this, you will be interacting with multiple different teams and occasionally vendors.

  • Projects delivery - Act as subject matter expert in the assessment of impacts for planned system changes and projects, ensuring compliance with relevant organization standards (Business, Continuity, Security, Compliance, and Privacy); develop and maintain productive relationships with Technology, QA, Project team and others. Research, evaluate and support the development and implementation of new and/or revised policies, procedures and standards. Investigate, research and provide recommendations on issues and system outages.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Red Hat OpenShift, Microsoft Azure, Artifactory, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Ansible, and Linux OS. Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell. Working knowledge of financial products and services, with the ability to apply standard practices and processes to relevant operational activities. SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) certification is an asset.
